Hi everyone,

My dad has always instilled to me the value of a clean car. It's something he's always prided himself in, and a skill he taught me. I'm here to take those skills to another level. His equipment and procedures are much more basic than what you'd find here, hopefully I can pass some of my newfound knowledge to him. :D

I've always taken auto detailing pretty seriously, but I've just purchased a brand new car (first new one I've owned) and I really want to take things up a notch and preserve/enhance the quality of the new paint and clean interior. For those wondering, it is a 2014 Subaru WRX sedan in WR Blue Pearl.

I've been lurking the past few days and have already put in a nice order including a variety of Blackfire products to add to my detailing lineup. I'm sure it won't be long and I'll again be adding to the collection again. By the way, I used grit guards for the first time when I detailed my wife's 4Runner on Sunday and WOW there was a lot of grit in the bottom of that rinse bucket.

Excellent first post! Welcome to the forum!!! Glad to see you become a poster. The Subbie looks great, they are awesome cars! However, the soft paint will make it a chore to keep up with them. Maybe your dad should join the forum too?!

I look forward to seeing your journey and advancement!:bigups

This soft paint talk has me a bit nervous. Here's what I've already ordered:

1 SON-3200-R - Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay, 100 12.50
1 BF-100 - 16 oz. BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Conditioning Sha 17.99
1 BF-520 - 20 oz. BLACKFIRE Clay Lubricant 12.99
1 BF-350-400 - BLACKFIRE Leather Care Combo 39.99
1 BF-850 - 16 oz. BLACKFIRE Total Eclipse Tire Dressing 24.99
1 HNBK-BF - BLACKFIRE Car Care Handbook 0.00
1 DP-800 - 32 oz. Detailer's Xtreme Foam Formula Auto Sh 19.99
1 COBRA-CK - **The Guzzler Combo Kit 27.99
1 EIN-970005 - 16.9 oz. 1Z Einszett ColourTec Wheel Clea 14.99
1 SON-338241 - SONAX Glass Cleaner 11.99

I also have a Gilmour foam gun to use and a couple of buckets with grit guards.

Looking back through my order it looks like I forgot to re-add the "BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection" when my cart emptied iteself. :( Does that sound like a good sealant option with my soft paint or should I look at another product?

Any tips? Thanks!

Edit: I may should add that I have an "Ultimate Detailing Machine" that I bought from Autopia several years ago and no pads that I'd trust.

Best of luck to you.....I am brand new at this and I mean brand new, just started swamp dawg pressure wash and detailing blind......So I am siying hello to all of you and hoping I can learn a lot from you.I know I will you all seem knowledgeable and understading, so with all of you maybe my little retirement hobby/job wont be so bad afterall. By the way got my first detail today and dont ya know its a Black volvo ! I have faith though right? Thx ahead of time for your help.:yourrock

welcome to AF....yes, the grit guards are awesome in that (well, besides the obvious) they help you see all of the dirt that comes off the vehicle. its a great visual for the customer when they think their car is 'clean'

I ended up ordering some Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer and I'm going to lay Exo v2 over it. Hopefully that will prove to be a wise choice for protecting my (soft) paint.

Congrats on the new Ride. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Most BlackFire products are always a good bet (skip the tire dressing?). Using BF polish, and WD All Finish Paint Protection will make your blue sled "Create Whiplash". Worked for me.

Remember, to save a little money for petrol.
