Free Towel from Autofiber.com

Mine arrived in hot soggy NH today; feels super soft and nice; if it doesn't rain tomorrow it'll get a test run. Thanks Ian!

As I said wayyyyy back at the beginning of this thread, once I got mine, I'd give it a shot and see how it works. Well, it works great.

Ian, thank you for the quality towel. It's soft and high quality. How does it differ from the MF Tech towels you sell?

I put it to use for removing some swirl remover and it worked great. Someone suggested it might be well suited for removing both polish and wax, and they were exactly right. It just seems to grab the product off the paint. My car is black and no hint of a scratch.

I also tried it out with some Platinum QD and it worked great at that task also.

Highly recommended.

Get this... I have asked my wife every day for a week, in anticipation of it's arrival, if my new towel had come in the mail. Day after day "Nope. Haven't seen it." Full of it she is. It had come and she was holding out on me. I found it hiding in a pile of mail on the counter. Mean! Thats what she is. Mean. Its a great MF towel. Very plush, My wife 'the mean one' likes it because it doesn't snag on your skin. I plan on giving it a try on Monday.

Thanks again Ian

I just got mine today. It's a very well constructed quality towel. I'll definately have to place an order for some more of these!

Thanks Ian!

I got mine today! It's very plush and soft... but even after a wash, it lints. The fibers aren't as consistent as the PakShak ones. Still worth looking at if you have a white or silver car and plan to use something else for windows.

Thank you very much, Ian!

Um, what's so special about a white or silver car for this particular towel? Meaning you don't see the linting so obviously or what?

Got mine yesterday, thanks Ian!

It was extremely soft, the softest I've had yet. When I soaked it it seemed like it might be a little threadbare, like I could see too much of the backing. I looked at the prices online, and I don't know if the towel was good enough to justify paying almost double PakShak's prices. But it was soooooo soft! Maybe I'll just get a few more...

Ian ,thankyou for the towel,It cost you guys alot, 83 cents shipping alone. It is very soft yet alot of daylight pores through when held up to the light.I perfer the tighter weave overall.I like the grey detailing towel .

Thanks for all of the feedback and good remarks.

BW, I am suprised that the towel is linting, I have literally used hundreds of these towels, and have experienced almost no linting. Even on black cars. This is one of the things that I think makes this towel better than others. Did you wash it with other cotton products? .... Oh yeh, And what do you mean by the "fibers are not as consistent"? I am comparing one to my PakShak towel right now, and the only difference that I can see or feel is that, the PakShak towel has one plush side and that the Autofiber towel is softer.

BTW, let me give a "shout out" to Ranney...he is a great guy! Good towels too!

You guys are correct in your observation that the towel is slightly thinner than the Elites from Microfiber Tech and Pakshak. Both of these other towels have one side that is not plush and the other side that is very plush. The Pro Detailing towels (free samples) are plush on both sides, but are slightly lighter than the Elites and Pakshak. I find this to be advantageous in a few regards, they are less likely to lint or leave streaks, they are not quite as "clingy", and I find that the lighter towel is easier to work with ... what do you guys think?

This leads me to a question that I have been trying to find an answer to for quite some time regarding microfiber in auto detailing applications. It is: What is more important in a microfiber towel, softness (the textile feeling) or plushness (thickness of towel, and length of fiber)? I know that most of us use microfiber for buffing and removing wax and polish residue, along with QD. What do you guys feel is more important in a towel? The Elites are definately thicker and more plush the the Pro Detailing Towel is definately softer.

Here is an interesting fact about these various towels and their thicknesses and weights. Though the Elites, PakShak, and Autofiber Pro Detailing Towels are all slightly different blends of fibers, 80/20, 70/30, and 75/25 respectively, and they all feel and look slightly different, they all seem to absorb and hold the same amount of water. Not that this matters too much in terms of the most common application of these towels, I just thought is was interesting. And suprised me when I conducted the test.

Hope this all makes sense, and I look forward to hearing some more feedback.

Hi Ian,

I received my free 16" x 16" micro fiber towel today. Thank you very much for the free offer. It is very soft indeed. :xyxthumbs

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

Personally, I consider plushness to be the most important factor for me because it means the towel can hold more stuff before it gets loaded. Also, they just feel more substantial. :D This assumes, of course, that the softness or hand of the towel doesn't actually have any practical play in how gentle the towel is (not scrubbing off wax, as some people allege).

Got my "free" Autofiber Pro Detailing towel yesterday. :bounce. Thanks Ian. Very soft and I like the slightly larger loop thread design. I will wash with next load of MF's ( just did my weekly load of 50 yesterday :(). I will test for performance ( wicking of products), durability, and retention of plushness and softness over the next few weeks and compare to your Elite and Ultra and PakShak's MF's. All have been great in all regards. :xyxthumbs
