These are my weapons of choice:

FWIW, I got the quattro a while back from a deal like this, and then got another lol. Don't use them anymore however.

hum... I won't get more snail mail spam from the first link, will I? That's usually what "contests" do

I did take advantage of the second link, though :D

This works because I'm too cheap to buy razors (those multi blade ones are expensive!)

thanks :)

Greg,

What kind of razors are those? Back when Sean used to post here more often, he always posted about men's essentials and that straight razor they have over there. I've kinda wanted to try that for a long time, but it's a little bit pricey if I dont end up using it.

I switched to a safety razor 2 years ago. Will never go back to a disposable ever again. Check out Knife Center.com., under shaving needs.

Just get a Merkur shhaver with a badger brush and glycerin soap and you'll be set. After the initial cost, the cost of the double edge blades are a heck of alot cheaper.

got my razor two days ago too :D

haven't used it yet... waiting to "wear out" my current razor

man I'm cheap :lol

My Fusion just showed up in the mail one day a couple weeks back. Didn't order it or anything. ???

I'll take it, but I'm sure the blades are high priced.

I manage to destroy my face with a cartridge razor. Am I going to shave all the skin off with one of those safety razors? I imagine there will be quite a few cuts when I first start out with it, but my neck gets razor burn something fierce from my Quattro and my Fusion.

I quite like the Merkur Classic HD (Heavy Duty) safety razor. You have to pay a lot more attention to what you're doing compared to the Gillette/Schick cartridge razors or else you will cut yourself up badly. But over time, it gets easier and the shave is a little nicer IMO. You'll also minimize the likelihood of cuts with the Merkur if you use a quality shave cream and good brush for prep.

I, like many, purchased the Merkur HD after all the reviews on how it was a great starter DE razor. For three months I thought I'd never be able to shave. I sucked at it, couldn't seem to get a decent shave and was almost ready to go back to cartridges. Then on a whim I bought a 1954 Gillette SuperSpeed, loaded it with an Israeli Personna blade (Both purchased on Ebay). Best shave ever.. For me that combo is darn near perfect, easier than a cartridge and a nice close shave. I love the superspeeds, if you want to try out DE shaving, give those a close look. Plus you can find 'em cheap on Ebay. Pick up a 100 pack of either Derby Blades or Israeli made Personna's and you are probably under $35 bucks. Then go to Target and pick up some Proraso soap and and brush and you're set!

Remember, you don't have to push down with a DE like your do with a cartridge... just a light touch will do.
