Free Detail @ the Dealer-----VOLVO S80

Lesson learned I guess. At least you didn't pay for it, I am sure you would have had a battle trying to get your money back if you did. Tell your friends to avoid if possible too.

Well its not really my fault, cause I had no idea they were going to "detail" my car. Good news though, I went back today and spoke to the service manager and got a full refund for my service and three coupons for free oil changes!

The Volvo deal is really heavy on customers service, but man, I really hope they straighten out there detailers!

Great color on a nice looking car.

I am curious about the Corvette a couple doors down though. :D

I'm glad you are happy with it.

The best thing is that they think they are great detailers! :buffing:
I detail cars for a BIG used car dealer and I like to think I'm an exception to the rule. I work with 11 other guys. There are 6 on days and 6 on nights and there are only 2 of us that have any clue as to whats going on.

We are paid on comission and one other guy and I are about 150% efficient which means that during a 10 hour day I turn in 15 hours of work. Most of the other guys turn in turn in over 25 hours a day.

There are guys that will polish a whole car with a rotary faster than I can apply a sealer with an orbital. It actually hurts to look at them sometimes when they pull them out in the sun. Then they complain when the quality guys kick them back during the final inspection.

I'll admit that my cars don't really look as good as I'd like them to, but nobody is gonna get good results with this EcoLab Blue Coral crap we use. My cars meet the dealer's quality standards the first time through the final check and thats all I can do.

I'll only work on dealership cars because of our chemicals. If a customer comes in and wants a detail on a car they own I won't touch it. I refuse to use that stuff on a paying customer's car.

That's great! I figured they'd say you were "too picky."

Do you work for carmax??

lol, I busted out laughing when I opened the thread... I thought the title was a joke.

Sorry you had to experience that... I am very very very adiment when I go into ANY type of auto shop that no-one lays a finger on my car except to do the work paid.

So they can continue to "detail" the car every time it goes in for those free oil changes...

I actually had to change dealers because the one I had been using could not wrap their heads around the fact that I did not want it washed when it was in for service. The dealer and service rep I use now are MUCH better, and he writes on the ticket in BIG letters NO WASH several times. They've never washed it either.

Tell the dealer to NEVER, EVER, EVER wash your car again or you will take your business elsewhere. My first experience with the old dealer was just like that, they were very apologetic and gave me free stuff but they kept on doing it and stopped caring what I thought more and more every time.
