Free Detail Product To Customers

Alright, well since I am starting to line up more details for the coming month, ordered business cards, etc.. I got to thinking. Tomorrow I am going to the shop where I get my engine work done to pick up some pulleys for my supercharger, whenever I go here, they always leave me a nice reciept on my passenger seat, a sucker, and usually vaccum out my carpet for me. Nothing special, but I appreciate it....So I was thinking of buying some 8 oz or 16 oz containers...and filling them up with a product which my customers can have to use, just for a little something special. Any specific product ideas of what I could fill these containers with? Thanks in advance!

Well, I wouldnt go with polishes, waxes or QD's. A little 4oz spritzer of air freshener might be nice...

I never even thought of that. Good idea!! Which scent would be a good one that most people would like? New car? I know some people dont like the fruity smells...However I have Strawberry in mine and love it haha

Im looking at chemical guys right now, however whenever I try to link it, it brings me to some Macromedia page, sorry

What I do for customers, as far as air freshner is concerned, is offer them one of the gel disk air freshner like Wal-Mart carries. They are about $2 a piece but customers really appreciate them. At first they may be a bit strong but I suggest putting them in a plastic baggie with a few holes. When that starts to fade I tell them to take it out.

This is where the method to the madness comes into play.

When the air freshener is not as noticeable they think HEY it's time to get this thing detailed again. So they call me :D

hmm, I may have to try this give away stuff. I do a ton of modified bmw m's with owners who dont mind doing a little work on their own car. On a full detail, I will ussually just apply a sealant and then if they are nearby and i have the time I will come back for a wash and wax a week or so later. HOwever, I was thinking of picking up a gallon of chemical guys Butter Wet Wax and giving my clients a 4 oz sample of that. Then if I am unable to come back for a simple wash and wax they would have the product they need. I figure this will save them about $30 since they wont need to buy a wax of their own and when using it they will remember me and be even more likely to refer me to others. What do you guys think about this idea?

Why not "casually" ask what scent they prefer in there car. If you are doing an interior detail, they might expect an interior scent added. This way you gave them the scent they like, and your bonus is the right one too.

And air fresheners in concentrate, diluted down into 4 oz. bottles are REAL cheap. Almost all of your cost would be in the bottles.

As an aside, I think I might be insulted being handed a sucker after a business transaction. It may have connotations! :nervous:

I always recommend not to give out waxes or polishes. If these people are coming to you they are most likely not the type of people to wax or polish their own vehicles. Maybe if they like washing their own car you could give them a 4 ounce bottle of car wash. The air freshner idea is also good, just make sure you buy little spritz bottles.

haha...Good idea on the scents - it wouldnt be too expensive to get 2 or 3 different scents.

As for the sucker...I may be one :)

For what it's worth the Pina Colada scent from Chemical Guys is fresh without overpowering your nose. Although I haven't done so I would think it could be watered down to further economize your gifts.

Using it straight, only one or two small spritzes works well even in a large car/truck.

Just a thought......
