Found this 3M stuff

I saw this at Carquest when picking up some DG products. It wasn't on the main car-care aisle as it over with the more 'serious' paint stuff. Looked like they were about $25 for a bottle. They also had some sort of 3 bottle kit but it had slightly different labeling, then they had some sort of foam glaze 3M product. I've heard of the finesse it etc, but I didn't want to spend the $$ on this quite yet cuz I need to practice discipline..LOL Are these worh picking up AND what's the process of using them? I'm on a Menzerna kick right now.

I have (and still, from time to time) used the Finesse It Finishing Material. It was one of the first 'pure' polishes that I learned how to work, so every time I use a new polish I tend to sub-consciously compare it to that stuff. This isn't saying that I haven't found anything better or comparable, but it is just my experience. It's very predictable for me.

3M finishing material & finishing glaze is pretty decent (all 3M products). I have used both and still have a gallon of the glaze. The Imperial hand glaze is not for me. I prefer 3M's 06068 Ultrafina over these final finish products.

Now that's how to do an avatar!

I'm still not sure what these 3M products are comparable to. I've heard of finesse it, perfect it, ultrafina etc but can someone do a comparo for me like:

finesse it is similar to (list 1-2 other products)

what about the polishing compound? is it a worthwhile buy? medium cut?

so the hand glaze isn't anything to write home about?

Imperial Hand Glaze is more-or-less equivalent to Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze.

I wouldn't bother buying any of those 3M products; they're expensive and not the best.

good to know. I have # 7 already anyways and it was only $10...yet to use it though.

Seems like there's been a lot of hype lately on 3M but I guess I didn't catch exactly what product all the hype was about.

that imperial hand glaze is nasty stuff :P

It's not one of my faves, but I always found it OK for what it is. It's not a *bad* choice for use on a fresh repaint, might be worth keeping if only for that.

Heh heh, way back (circa 2000 or so) when I was just lurking here, IHG topped with Blitz brand wax was *the* hot combo :D

3M products are a mixed bag. Some are good, others... not so much.

It's the Ultrafina polish that is being hyped lately.
