Found some QEW locally..

Woohoo!! Found a camping store near my house that has QEW (although they only had the 16 oz. bottle in stock). Now, what is the best way to use it? I read GSR's thread from a couple of days ago detailing the Audi and BMW. I don't know what the two bucket method is that he used? I am assuming one bucket of QEW, one bucket of clean water to rinse the sponge? Could I use a pre-soak of QEW and then pressure wash (at a self serve car wash) to get the dirt off (for a REAL quick wash)?

On a side note...GSR, how do you keep your hands warm when you are washing outside and it is 35 degrees? My hands freeze from the water and I sometimes don't feel like washing the car because it is too #$%!! cold.

Thanks guys.

I use very warm water :). Do one panel at a time so the water doesn't get cold and ultimately freeze on the panel. Take breaks if you need to.

The first bucket is 2 oz QEW, 2 gals water. The second (rinse bucket), is 1/2 oz QEW, 2 gals water. 2 mitts as normal.

I've seen in Griot's a thick rubber glove you can wear under a mitt. I assume a typical yellow dish washing rubber glove will work equally as well

Grab a few pair of XL rubber house hold cleaning gloves.

I've tried the thicker ones but you lose all sense of feel. I use gloves year round because my hands chap quickly when dipping into the wash bucket.

A larger looser glove helps keep your hand from sweating too much inside it.

I have to add.....the local quarter wash has a heater that comes on when the coin hits the meter. It's 20 degrees outside and I'm washing in just a long sleeve shirt sweating!!!! You do move quickly as not to hold up those waiting.

Later,
JU
