Had the afternoon off due to some inclement weather so I gotsa looking up close and personal in my interior. I noticed some gunk that Q-tips and brushes couldn't touch, so I popped off my dash vent to discover this...

Notice the glass from my rear windshield break in :(

After this I popped off the climate vents and speaker grilles and proceeded to soak them in warm water with a little APC. I then lightly agitated and rinsed. The interiors of the vents got hit with a similar APC mix then some 1z Cockpit Premium.

Much better :). I suggest this quick cleaning to anyone and everyone. A friend of mine mentioned it could be good for allergies as well as odors. I agree.

hey GSRstilez, i do that quite often at work. we get alot of farm vehicles traded in and you would be amazed where farm dust gets into. what a mess. great job

For my car they just pop off with a screwdriver. Some may have screws though. Give it a shot or consult a Hayne's manual.

Sean,

What was the dilution ratio to water with the APC?

Thanks,

I 'll have to take some pictures of the ones on my ambulance. I clean them twice a month. You wouldnt believe the stuff that accumulates in there and it's really bad. My partners at first laughed at me and now they thank me. I thought I was the only one or one of the few that cleaned them. HAHAHAHA

10:1 on the APC dilution. Most of the stuff just wipes away, I just used the APC to help break it up and degrease it faster.

Be careful not to remove them too often as they may not fit in as snug after numerous removals and installations...looks real good though.

An alternative method, if you do not want to remove the vents, would be to spray some interior dressing into the vent and blast it with compressed air.

Sean Just in case you wanted to know the "Technical term" for those vents. They are called "De-Mister vents" They are technicly part of your De-frosting system and You do make a great point in cleaning this area! This not only keeps your vents clean but also keeps the air blowing through them Clean!

Great sales pitch for anyone who has algeries!
