2013 Ford Raptor. Owner declined dealer prep and had me out a few days after he'd picked it up to have Opti-Coat applied to it. The paint was as swirl free as he said, it was just pretty dirty from the rain earlier in the week.

2013 Chevy Corvette 427 Convertible. Only a couple shots of this one, he has live oaks covering his driveway and they were dropping sap. Be out this Friday to wash it before he heads down to Austin, maybe I can get some good shots then.

2013 Lexus IS350 F-Sport. The owner also declined dealer prep, in fact, he called me to ask if he should take the plastic off the car! :lol

Other than one small spot that was probably buffed at the factory, the paint was flawless.

2013 BMW 640. First of the new 6 series sedans I've done. Owner did the European delivery so I wasn't sure what I'd be facing when it arrived. Luckily no one did anything foolish to it.

2013 Honda Accord Coupe. Originally was supposed to be an Opti-Coat job but the paint absolutely would not cooperate. Had only light swirls but the clear on this metallic black paint was marring and hazing really bad with Optimum Hyper Polish and HD Polish plus both were sticking. The only product I could get to work was Optimum G-P-S using a foam polishing pad. And I can't Opti-Coat over G-P-S. We will try again maybe late fall or early winter, maybe the clear will harden up between now and then. I do know of another detailer who had the same problem with a Honda Fit with the metallic black so consider yourself warned about what you might face with this paint.

Otherwise, its a really nice car, well laid out and appointed interior, exterior styling is an improvement over the previous generation and the 6 speed automatic (replacing the prior generation's 5 speed auto) helps the new Accord coupe run low 14s at 101 mph in the quarter mile. :)

Very interesting with the Accord paint. Thank god, I have not ran into such issue.

Why no OC on the BMW? He could sure afford it?

Otherwise, excellent work!!!!!! :bow

Thanks, Thomas. Not sure why the 640 owner didn't opt for Opti-Coat either, we'd initially discussed it. Never really said why he decided to go with more conventional protection.

All look great guys! Love the new "6"s also. Not sure about back seat roominess but if your driving it doesn't matter! I have a new Accord upcoming, it looks like I need to add some extra time to that job. It's blue. Need to find out from Wills what this super soft towel he speaks of? I have not tried any Eraser either. Sticky paint is hard to wipedown with anything though, period!

Great work on some sweet rides, Scott! I saw a new Lexus IS350 F-Sport last week and it actually look VERY nice in person...I wasn't too sure on the looks based on pics originally. ;)

Probably okay with a blue Accord, seems to be their metallic blacks that are a huge pain. 6 series sedan has a lot more room in the back seat than the coupes.

Willis is probably talking about these towels: Metropolitan Detail | Metropolitan Detail 1616 Edgeless Microfiber Detail Cloth | Bellevue | Seattle | Kirkland | Redmond

I like it a lot too, really good looking car. Instrument panel has multiple options for display too.

Awesome group of recent details! isF is so sexy! The BMW looks huge.

Sent from my mobile device

Huge it is, more or less a slightly flattened 7 series.

What was the issue with coating the Accord? If you did find a combo that works and gave the results you wanted, what was the problem? You're supposed to fully strip the car before applying OC anyway..... No IPA, dawn wash, or Eraser on hand?

I didn't feel confident that what I had on hand (IPA) was going to be enough to fully strip the protection laid down by Optimum G-P-S. And that was the only thing that was working. Plus on the trunk lid G-P-S wasn't aggressive enough to fully remove light to moderate spider swirls in the trunk lid. There were also time constraints as well, he was going to have to leave by mid-afternoon that day.

He will probably have me out to go over it again later this year so we will try in cooler weather (it was upper 90s and HUMID) to see if additional time for the paint to hopefully harden up and lower temperatures will allow true polishes tol work on his paint.

Shoot me a PM next time Scott, I know how tricky that paint is. Hint, the optimum polishes aren't gonna get the job done.

Meguiars and 3D weren't getting the job done either and I don't think the owner was up for me spending 10 hours water buffing the car. Its a daily driver and he had a $$$ limit he didn't want to go over on it. :lol

If you know what would work (and it seems what works on one doesn't always work on the next one for some reason) go ahead and post it in here so we all will be prepared the next time. :)

Full correction process on the one I did....(It really got hard AFTER medium polishing)

Surbuf/M101/D300

MF finishing/D300

LC tangerine/SIP

LC black/PO203

LC black/85RD

Problem I would have run into on this one was there wasn't enough time or customer's money to do 5 polishing steps.

Well, not everyone is willing to pony up for a full correction.....

The big problem is it wasn't that bad, one step should have been able to take care of it but anything more aggressive than G-P-S was hazing it and sticking to it. Even HD Polish which is generally goof proof on soft paints was hazing the clear on this one. Pretty frustrating day.

Kind of hard to convince someone to pay for a bunch of extra steps when under normal circumstances 1, maybe 2 should have been enough. Maybe in a few months the paint will have hardened up some more.
