Ford Ka - OPT, SSR2.5 & SRP

IMO AG is big pants, good on alloy wheels though. The finish always leaves me flat, and looks a little flat too, not very slick at all. However, you did a great job on that car Andy, that is very apparent.

The only thing I hate about SRP, which is why I don't use it that often, is it stains trim so damn easily, and also dusts like crazy with the slightest bit of humidity. Yesterday when I was working on the M5 I was using so little yest it still looked like someone had dumped a bag of flour over the car. If AG could develop it so it didn't stain and dust, it would be my go to polish. I know I could use AIO, but I do like the little bit of bite that SRP has.

Thanks guys - rather than individual replies etc I'd say the following.

SRP on a finishing pad goes on really, really thin. This means virtually no dusting and very little stained trim. I'd got the flake popping during polishing, so whatever sealant I used was going to ice the cake so to speak. I'd thought of EX-P initially but I've had good results with SRP on the Ka before, so gave it a whirl and happy with the results.

Plus, as Ben says, SRP has more of a bite so it does act a little like FP after IP if that makes sense (and in fact I've used it as a substitute to FP before now as I hate the way FP clogs and sticks like glue to paint!)

I tried topping with SG but it didn't work on this occasion - lots of streaking which was a first for me (always been fine before). I plan to do another coat of SRP next wash then EGP or OCW (just arrived) and maybe a wax.

SSR vs OPT - hard call TBH. SSR's such a good swirl remover AND polish it's hard to beat in terms of usage and results - as anyone who's used it knows. OPT's right there with it IMHO and leaves a slightly better finish - but it's hard to call

Good work Andy.

I use SRP with a polishing pad quite often now - and as you say, it goes on real thin and dusting is virtually zero.

Have you tried FPII? I've never experienced the 'clogging' and 'sticking like glue' with FPII.

Im with AXE on the finish, my next polish will be Optimum as I have the ssr's i need just now. I feel SRP leave a funny almost cloudy look on the car and I do qd after polishing to remove any spots missed etc. I just dont think it leaves it as cyrstal clear as AIO.

(note to self, once these exams finish I need to polish the car).
