For those of you with paint meters..

When you measure the paint, is there a certain amount of "standard" micros you take away from a certain pad/polish(compound)?



Or do you just measure the paint in your test section, do one pad/polish combo, and then measure again and use that same measurement throughout the entire car until the first polish is done. Then measure microns again, and then do your next step in the test area?



I'm just curious as to the process of the paint meters. I really want to pick one up for those details with the single stage paint where it would be almost necessary, and also as a safety net.

I guess the only way to find out how a certain pad/polish combo takes off it to simply buy a gauge and to test spots!
