For the real detailers!

This is interesting. I held an Autopia get together at my house a couple of years ago. We had a nice turnout of 10-15 guys.

I had just become aware of VooDoo Ride at the time, and called the company to invite them if they had a rep in the area. The president, Chris, sent us some nice stuff... T-shirts, QD, AIO, and some of these MFs.

I have corresponded with him a couple of times since, and have followed the company with some interest. They have a decent website and Dale Earnhardt is a backer/spokesperson.

Unfortunately, they've never seemed to get off the starting line. I'm no business genius, but I recommended that the company go "big box" OTC. Their market did not appear to be serious enthusiasts or pros, but the ArmorAll crowd.

The combination of a very cool, "tuner" feel to their brands and packaging also did not fit with the Dale Jr image, in my opinion. Both terrific looks, but maybe not together.

VooDoo Ride never seemed to do much... same website pages, same few outlets. I hope that this Amazon offering is not a going out of business sale.

Best wishes to both Chris and to Jr. Chime in if you're lurking.

The biggest problem with Big Box stores is shelf space. There just isn't much room for an unknown quantity. It's hard enough for players like Mothers to compete with 3M and Megs for shelf space let alone a startup. Surf City hit PepBoys and got a single 2 feet wide by 5 feet tall cardboard display box.

The Surf City stuff never even made it to my area. Others online were getting it at AutoZone, and I was going to check it out. I finally asked and the guys at the counter told me they'd never heard of it. Go figure.
