For ONR users

Hey guys, I am a new ONR user and I am loving it. Starting Sept 1st I told my customers that it will be my standard way of washing a car so that I have no worries with complying with any water run off regs and whatnot. I have been paying attention to Scottwax's posts regarding this product, but I am curious what others are doing start to finish with this product. I have been using a two bucket method, one for wheels and the other for the car. I use a variety of brushes for the wheel and start at with the wheel wells with the ONR and APC then work on the wheels and dry them. I use a terry towel like Scott for drying the wheels. Next I work from the top down on the vehicles. I use a microfiber hand mitt then two large microfibers, one damp, one dry to address the car. Then I go over the door jambs. Following that I go over the whole car with a spray wax application using another heavy microfiber. If there are really bad bugs I have used a bug remover from stinger that works well, and if the wheels are bad I use Mag's WB. Any one do it different or have any tricks?

Thanks,

Jason :2thumbs:

I use the two bucket method, but one bucket is clean water and the other is the wash bucket. So I guess, I'd add a third bucket for you. (tires / rinse / soap)

Also, you might want to hit the door jambs first as any dirty water run off will be caught next by the exterior wash.

1 bucket for wheels/fenderwells which I do first. That way any overspray from dressing the fenderwells is washed off when I wash the body of the car. I normally start on the hood on the drivers side and work my way around the car. I find it faster to just start on one end and work my way around since I only go around the car one time. I do the door jambs after washing the car using ONR and if needed, a little Optimum Power Clean.

use a half gallon/1 gallon chemical pump sprayer filled with 1-2 oz of ONR and use as a pre-rinse for the entire car, then proceed with your normal routine. I normally go through 2-3 MF mitts per car (they tend to get a little dirty and I like to reach for a clean when that happens. The pre-rinse might help encapsulate and/or lift the dirt off the surface a little.

Using strong wheel cleaner is the only real setback with ONR in that these chemicals should always be thoroughly rinsed with water.

FWIW I use a sprayer as well. That, combined with the two-bucket method seems to offer excellent results. I too do the wheels, tires, & wells first (and if they're really bad, I'll follow the pre-rinse with some APC) and then empty/rinse both buckets before doing the rest of the vehicle.

I'm still developing this myself but best so far has been:

1. 2BM with a rinse bucket

2. sprayer and mist 1 or 2 panels ahead

3. start at the roof and work down, depending on how water runs around that car

4. do door shuts if not too dirty and then wheels using the end of the wash solution (pre-spray wheels if a lot of dirt)

5. dry with 2 large CG Miracle dryers and a spray wax or QD depending on what I'm doing for maintenance

2 bucket here...one with ONR one for rinsing the mitt.

I start with half of the roof and do the windows and windshields on that side too. Then I do the other half. And then I just circle around the car doing the doors, fenders, etc.

When I dry depends on if Im in the shade or not and the temperature. If the car is cool I'll do a bunch of panels before drying.

You said that you go through 2-3 mitts a day... How many washes are you typically doing, and how long are they taking you?
