David, you had asked me about a 50/50 shot of OC done with Menzerna SF4500 on a blue pad. The first pic are of that, the last three pics are of Meg's 105 on the meg's yellow pad and then the SF4500 with blue pad. Left side is the polished side.

With meg's 105 and then SF4500

As you can see the SF4500 with blue pad provides a bit more clarity, and this was with a 30-45 second pass. Obviously with both compounds the OC is off completely and has more clarity.

It's not just clarity. The reduction of the orange peel on the polished side is dramatic.

Yes it is, but the car was polished before I applied OC to the car when it was brand new. I used IP and just did a single stage correction... obviously not much was needed, as I told them not to touch the car. It came off the boat, they called me from NY, I had them blue tape the entire front, behind all of the wheels and the front of the hood and mirrors. They did a very good job for me though. I would buy from them again.

Was the orange peel in the Opticoat a result of improper application, or is that just a characteristic of all semi-permanent coatings? I have a couple syringes of the Opticoat 2.0 so I'll test it out myself...

I cannot blame it on the OC, or improper application either. It's the result of crappy subaru paint honestly. OC goes on clear and then flashes away.
