A few weeks back, some low life degenerate decided to vandalize my new STI for no apparent reason (the original thread: http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-detailing/125765-my-new-sti-vandalized-need-advice.html). Below are photos of the damage.
I am also posting photos of the fix, which was incredibly well executed by Ultimate Coachworks in Culver City California. There was quite a bit of discussion about how to best handle the repainting required.
No level of detailing or correction was going to get this damage out. New paint was in order.
After a lot of discussions with Gary at Ultimate, we decided on a simplified but effective strategy to blend the new paint within the damaged panel, so as not to have to spray over perfectly original adjacent panels (the hood, the door, etc). More time than usual was also spent on color matching and getting the color/metallic finish, and spray technique right to do this properly. Most body shops will simply blend everything to hide a color matching discrepancy.
I am incredibly pleased with the results and recommend Ultimate to anyone looking to have the best possible work done.
This proves there are many ways to solve a problem, and that if you insist on an approach you really believe in, it can be done.
