FoamGun Question

I got my foam gun. It's awesome. I love it. I replaced the pistol handle with the handle from this thing http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=228747-306-583GF&lpage=none

I went to Lowes and got a few things that I'm impressed with. Their "NeverKink" hose is really nice. I couldn't get it to kink. It's real slick and slides around the ground pretty easy. It flows water well, and has well made threaded ends. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=6082-1596-8640-50&lpage=none

Then I put these disconnects on the ends. They work great and their size is compact. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=228724-53540-09QCGF&lpage=none

I filled the foam gun with PB SS&S and it puts out plenty of foam, even on the lowest setting.

I'm really happy with my washing "system" now. Marring should be greatly reduced now.

I love those gilmour quick disconnects. I ordered a couple sets with my foamgun from autogeek, then saw them the other night at Lowes's. I also got a on/off switch thingy that they make.

Yeah, I just picked up an ON/OFF at Lowes too. I got the gray zinc plated one. Now I will be able to quickly disconnect the foam gun from the hose and connect the "fire nozzle" without getting wet. I've found that the foam gun doesn't have enough rinsing power sometimes. It left some soap residue behind. The firemans nozzle will take care of that.

That's funny, I found the nozzle with my gun to have more than enough pressure. Tho my other quick disconnect is on the fireman's nozzle for that final low-pressure rinse.

:2thumbs:

So who makes the best foam gun to date? I was thinking of picking up the gilmour one.

Also, do you still need a bucket with soap and water for your washmitt or do you just use your washmitt directly on the foam you just sprayed?

The Gilmour is pretty much the only game in town, and between their various models I like the one with the sliding brass mixture-dilution valve.

I still use the buckets, but it'll depend on what wash technique you're using. I myself use the foamgun to effect constant flushing and lubrication; I use a "dislodge and flush" approach where the foam is directed at the point where my wash media contact the paint.

I highly recommend using the foamgun in conjunction with a high-quality BHB. You can pretty much just spray the suds through the bristles and effect a self-cleaning action where the BHB stays clean and the dirt gets flushed away.

But note that using a foamgun takes thought and practice. I thought the whole thing through very carefully and still needed many washes to get my technique all scienced out. I've been using it for years now, and I *still* find small changes/refinements that I can make to improve the process.
