Which would buy....personal use..once a week.....I have found 3my diff ones on amazon all are about $40.....all by gilmour.

1. Foam gun w brass

2. Foam gun plastic

3. Foamaster II

I searched but couldn't find any comparison.

Foam gun with brass. I'm unfamiliar with what's on Amazon but I know any big detailing supply site ought to have it. I got mine locally at the time--luckily; before they became popular online. Still performs flawlessly after several years.

Some people (myself included) prefer the brass model, others prefer the plastic one. Just a personal preference kind of thing IMO.

I sort of prefer the dial on the plastic one. I know someone with the brass one, who definitely has used it more than I have mine, but the brass is heavily corroded. It still works though.

Wow, that's a first I'm hearing of corrosion on the brass. I've even used mine in two states, no issues at all like that

I've had to clear out the siphon-holes, both on the brass bar and the vented top-screw, but it seemed more like mineral/whatever deposits than what I'd term "corrosion".

Good idea, that with a little bath in vinegar might help. I'll try that out briefly, maybe the foam gun will foam even more.

I think you may find it to possibly be the single most important detailing tool ( responsible for marring free washing) you'll ever buy. It was for me. :bigups It ought to hold up just fine to our Central Florida water.

Maybe not corrosion, per se, but an obvious build-up of something. I'd never used one of the brass ones so I was curious how to change the setting, and that bar was completely frozen in place. I'm trying to remember if the build up was white (deposits?) or green (corrosion or deposits?) but not sure which. Either way, it wouldn't budge.

If the person still has that brass foam gun, perhaps try soaking the assembly in WD-40 for a long while ( I use Kroil). Maybe that will loosen things up and you can proceed to clean it all up. :nixweiss

I'll pass it along, thanks. I think it bothers me more than him though!
