Foam gun problems. Need help!

Or put the nozzle of the gun inside the mitt and let the foam blow it up into a "mitt balloon". Gently move the ballooned-out mitt over the surface, barely touching the paint. Take it off and rinse it out as needed.

Hey Accumulator,

I have tried replicating the balloon effect but without success :( Is it really possible only with boosted water pressure like you have?

I dunno, never tried it with "normal" pressure. Not about to go throw breakers, etc. to shut down the pump/drop the pressure so i could find out either ;)

Maybe my water pressure *does* have something to do with my success with the foam gun :nixweiss

That's absolutely identical to my first one. Only difference between that and my second one is the labeling and the color of the orange parts.

That looks NOTHING like the one that I got! I'm calling them!!!!

(Thanks for the pics, btw.)

I'm still sorta :nixweiss about whether the difference in mixing valves is something really significant..but it could be. Now if the "other" style gun doesn't work for you either, then it must be a water supply issue.

I won't be able to find out whether the other style gun works unless I get it. (Which I WILL!)

What I do know is that they switched foam guns. The pic on their site shows your gun. But that's not what I expected and not what I got.

Also, Unless jchetty's post has a typo, the Part Number that you have is: 95Q6F- MR. My part number is: 95QGF-MR

Dan.

J,

Yep that's one from Mark at Pal, I wonder how much his volume of sales of those things has picked up since all this online chat about foam guns :o

That's the Butcher's gun, just with a different color top and sprayer. Perhaps someone else makes it for Butchers but the valve assembly and everything is identical.

Well, it looks like my next Foam Gun will definitely be a Butchers. You all seem happy with it and I'm having problems.

Regarding water pressure, that may be an issue, but I don't think so. My water presssure is 55 PSI. This was measured at end the hose with the shutoff valve in place. I.e., 55 PSI is going into the Foam Gun. Automagic has a spec showing that the water pressure should be between 40 and 90 PSI.

Also, I looked at the pics on Detail City showing foam being sprayed onto a white truck. The foam coming out of my gun is more like a stream. It's much more watery. I can shoot it 15-20 feet. If water pressure was the issue, I don't think it would shoot that far.

Also, if water pressure was the issue, wouldn't at least one or two other people with the Butchers Foam Gun have the same problem?

So, while I'm not ruling out water pressure, I'm more inclined to believe that it's the Foam Gun. After getting the Butcher's gun, if I still have the same problem, then obviously it's something else.

Regards,

Dan.

Thanks for all the help folks. I was finally able to get through to the people at AutoMagic and I'm sending back their Foam Gun. As soon as I hung up, I called the folks at Phoenix JS and ordered one:

Phoenix JS

919 838-4992

And a special "Thank You" to Jay for posting the Phoenix information. The fellow that I talked to was very nice to deal. He mentioned that he had talked with someone from this board in person. (I'm pretty sure it was Jay.)

I'll keep you updated with the results when I get the new Foam Gun.

Regards,

Dan.

J--outstanding and accurate way of looking at it. I'd be very surprised if anyone who does get this exact one you and I have is disappointed with their new way to wash the car.
