foam cannon/gun

Before I make a purchase, are foam cannons and guns worth it? They look cool applying the foam but in the end you still have to wash with a mitt. Just searching for some opinions before I decide.

Thanks,

Paul

Yes I used to think that to, but once I bought one my washing habits have gotten better. There also great for prep stuff as well. I think thee are a must have. Just get one. you will enjoy it.

cannon or gun? If I get a cannon, then I will need to purchase a PW and from what I read a gas powered is better and more reliable than an electric one.

barry, how do you use a foam gun in your washing process?

Do you soap it up with the foam gun and then just go to town with the normal 2 bucket wash?

Foam guns/cannons are great! You will still need to wash by hand but the foam does make the job easier.

I prefer the cannons over the guns, you can get one for your pressure washer or one that connects to a air compressor.

I simply cannot wash without marring unless I use the foamgun.

I bought the foamlance attachment a while back, but I never replaced my dead powerwasher so I've never used it...not sure, but I don't think I'd use it for regular/maintenance washes anyhow. Thick, clinging foam really doesn't have any place in my normal wash regimen.

I just bought a PW and foam cannon in March but have been using a foam gun for a few years. Here are my thoughts:

PW & cannon- a lot of fun and very useful on dirtier vehicles and vehicles needing paint correction. You'd be amazed at how easy some of the bugs and grime blast off after soaking for a few minutes in the thick foam. Plus, with a strong enough wash mixture and enough dwelling time you can strip most of an LSP off. The only negative I've found is that my gas PW is rated at 3300 psi which exceeds the cannon's (PA) max by ~700 psi; this adversely effects the dilution ratios somewhat and I need to add quite a bit more soap (~6-8ozs/32oz) to get thick shaving cream foam.

Foam gun- I thought after I bought the PW/cannon this thing would only collect dust. This hasn't been the case @ all. I still find myself reaching for it on a regular basis for cars that are properly maintained (mine and Evolutionettes <---stolen from Accumulator). It should still have its place in a good mar-free washing routine.
