FMJ, Blackfire, UPP - how much difference?

I've been using Blackfire and UPP for quite a while (usually over AIO) and am getting good results, but recently read some very positive reviews of FMJ.



Two questions for those who have used FMJ and either Blackfire or UPP in the past:



1) Is FMJ that much better than Blackfire or UPP that it would be worth getting rid of my supply of those two sealants and switching?



2) If so, what aspects of FMJ are much superior to the other products?
 
I used Blackfire a couple of years ago so I won't comment on an old version. I still use UPP and have also used FMJ. The difference to me is UPP is a bit 'oily' but I guess this is what allows it to leave such a 'slick' finsh and is very easy to remove (after 30 minute dry time minimum). FMJ is less oily and more durable IMO and even easier to remove after maybe 15 minutes dry time. FMJ looks abit more like a nuba. For some reason FMJ really stains the pad where UPP cleans up good. I apply both over AIO. To me it's a toss-up. If you need less dry time go with FMJ - of course FMJ is $$$ - I bought the 32oz.
 
They're both easy to use, but UPP is easier. They're both super slick, but UPP is slicker. They're both wet-looking, but FMJ is wetter.

I'd say UPP is more durable as well, but I really like the look that FMJ gives.

So I say judge on price, and UPP wins that one easily.
 
I got a sample of FMJ from a fellow autopian, and based on some mixed early reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a truly excellent sealant. Easy on, easy off, no streaking, no hazing and nearly as slick as Wolfgang or UPP. Very wet look and the appearance seems to hold on very well. I applied it to a white Ford Expidition in early to mid June. I wash this particular vehicle weekly using conventional car wash soap and deionized reverse-osmosis water and allow it to air dry. Here it is, the middle of October and the Expidition still looks freshly sealed. Paint has decent slickness and when you hit it with the hose, water beads literally race down the sides, 4 months after initial single layer appliction over AIO. Holding up well on a few other vehicles but I don't see them as often.



Once I burn through some of my current LSPs, I'm going to order some FMJ.
 
Thanks for the input. Sounds like it's a great product but not necessarily a huge leap over what I'm currently using. Maybe I'll give it a try on one of my vehicles.
 
IMO FMJ isn't worth the premium price. Sure, it's a nice sealer, but so are many others at 1/2 the price. I'd stick with what you're using, if you're happy with the results.
