Florida's Heat or Friday the 13th

Yesterday, I was detailing a 2004 Black T-Bird, I had washed it and I started Flooding the car so I could dry it off, as I let he water run over the windshield, it cracked, luckily, the owner was right beside it when it popped. :nixweiss



Has anyone ever had this happen to them.

I've had new windshields pop out when I closed the doors, but this one takes the cake.
 
It's been Real Hot here in Ohio too. Fortunately I haven't had any windows break. I pay close attention to the weather, since I'm mobile. If it is going to be too hot. I will reschedule if I can. The heat makes the products act different. Makes for rough wax removal too.
 
Chances are there was a small chip somewhere in the windshield. Breaking a windshield on friday the 13th should be worth 7 years of bad luck:soscared:
 
thats crazy. I dont think the windshield would be hot enough nor would the water be cold enough to cause that to happen. It was probably just a crazy occurrence.

Yes. Safelite, the ones that sell windshields, have been running radio commercials in our area warning about small chips that can cause glass shattering if there is a sudden temperature change. They are pushing in a chip repair process (inject resin in the crack) to prevent this. I had a windshield crack grow several feet when I turned on the defroster during the winter.

Same thing happened to me last winter. I got a new windshield and 2 weeks later a rock hit it and chipped the new one too.
 
The crack started on one side of the rear view mirror, went under the mirror and proceeded to the other side, it was approximately 2 foot long.
