Floor Mats

Is there a trick to getting all the dirt and sand out floor mats? i tried everything to get it all out of my floor mats and even after vacuuming with a household vacuum and shaking them out there was still stuff coming off them when i would shake them some more.
 
I don't own an extractor so I can't say, but I do have a powerwasher. What you can try is, soaking a carpet cleaner in the floor mat. Then (obviously, if you have a powerwasher) blast it with the powerwasher, you should see a lot of crap come out of it. Repeat till you don't see crap coming out of it :)
 
I user a 6.5 hp wet/dry vac and a large nylon brush for sand. If that isn't enough then I use a PW and soap; and extract with vac to dry faster.
 
Yeah the best way without an extractor is to hit it from the back with a pw daniel..................other than that the sand will remain. Your lucky dog hair is not in the mix also!!
 
take them out and hit them with an air compressor/ blow nozzle. Then take the mats and vacuum, dry brush, vacuum. get as much dry material out as possible before getting them wet. Then I would use a power washer or take them up to your coin-op car wash and blast them out there. Good luck, they should could out near perfect if they are not worn out.
 
My method is spray APC and let dwell. Then I clip them to a vertical surface and use either a pressure washer or just house pressure and spray them down. Once in a while use a stiff brush and brush the carpet and rinse and repea if needed.
 
I am having trouble drying the mats in time after using my pressure washer on them. I am using a 5hp shopvac to remove as much water as possible then hanging them out to dry as I continue to detail the car. Any other suggestions to getting them dry faster?
 
I just hang them after cleaning or place them on an elevated surface in the sun and they dry fast. If they are hanging up for a while, I just wet vac or towel the bottom corner.
 
If you don't own a power washer, my suggestion is

spray them down with the hose, use Folex. Scrub them down, sit for 5

minutes, spray with the hose and let the residue and sand run off.

Then use an extractor or wet/dry vac.
 
I just take mine out and whack them against a tree or wall; you'd be surprised how much sand and dust fly out. Then vacuum them.
