Flooded Honda.... Done (kinda long)

Tex Star Detail

I have no before pics, and I am ticked that I did not have my camera.

OK, I get a call from the lube shop I advertise at. The owner owns all the land and duplexes behind the shop.....nice neighbor hood. Anyways, he was kind of in a bad mood, I could tell. A "tenant" in one of the duplexes owns a HONDA CIVIC Hatchback. Apparently, the passenger side window does not roll up.:D
He said the guy called him complaining about his car being flooded. The cause, automatic sprinklers. The guy went on a 2 week vacation and left the car outside.....with the window down or cracked...I dunno....So, for that long, a sprinkler has been shooting through his window, and he is blaming the owner of the property......... The owner said he would rather pay me to clean up the mess, than to deal with anything legal from the "tenant".......

I got there, and OMG....NASTY. had a horrible smell....standing water, with a dirty, oily film floating on top.

First thing I did was break out the tools to remove the seats. Then extracted the water with my shop vac (5 gallon vac) I emptied it 3 times...I would put it at 12 gallons.......WOW.....
I pulled ALL of the plastic trim and center console out. Ripped the carpet out and threw it in the driveway, along with the seats to dry a bit...haha
I wanted to point my attention to the bare inside. Water was dripping out from UNDER the dash. So I pulled the vents out and sucked about 2 cups of water from them.
It took me an hour to strip everything and clean it, minus the carpet and seats.
I loaded the wet carpet and seat on the trailer and took them home. I wanted the car to sit, bare inside, overnight to dry whetever was left.

Got home, layed the carpet in the driveway, and pressure washed it. I had to remove the pad from underneath...it had mildew and mold....
dried the seats out and de-odorized them. Hung the carpet to dry overnight and went back today to put it all back together again. Took about another hour to put it all together......
I did no stain removal on the seats, and did not dress anything in the car. I was there to extract water only. The guy wanted me to do a detail and bill the owner...LMAO....yea right.....

Smell is gone, nasty is gone....job done.

Pics coming

Look at the first PIC.
See the hump going down the middle of the car? See the small one going from the driver door to passenger door? The water was to the top of it on both sides. GROSS

Now that is taking it to an extreme. A necessary one but extreme non the less. I would never be able to get it back together. It sure looks nice though!!!

Did that car run? With no electrical problems? I'm amazed.

He said his speaker on the passenger side quit working and his gauges flicker. Guess he'll learn not to leave the car outside with the windows down for 2 weeks.......he does have a 2 car garage.....LOL

He should have gotten his car stolen for leaving the window down...too bad it didn't just disappear.

Nice work, I would hate to do all that.

Jeez!! All I can say is, you're damn fast. It would've taken me at least 2 hours to pull that interior apart, and another 2 to get it back together. Nice work!!

Just curious, how much did you end up charging for that job? And how long did it take you to dry/deodorize the carpet and seats?

I brought the carpet and seat home with me. I layed the carpet in the driveway and pressure wahsed it. The sprinkle some Oxy all over it. Let it set for a few minutes, and re pressure wash. Had to pull the pad out from underneath the carpet. Hung it over the rail on my back deck to dry overnight, same with the floor mats. The seats were about dry already. I vac'd them and sprayed on some odor killer on them.

Took about an hour to pull it apart and another to put it all back together.
I am used to doing things like that. I used to tear all of my cars apart when I was younger....LOL I have worked in bodyshops for years.... I guess it just comes natural for me to tear cars apart..LOL

Not sure what I am going to charge yet. The owner of the duplexes is paying. He owns a bunch of lube shops, and I get all the work on my truck for free....So I do not want to overcharge, but then again, I want what is due to me....LOL....
