According to the information on the Flitz website their polish is safe to use on everything.
"...Our patented scientific formulation uses No abrasives, No ammonia, is nontoxic, free of Acid, and requires no warning label. It is also nonflammable and can be used on heated surfaces. You can even use Flitz with your bare hands. It is safe on your skin, no gloves are required..."
Is this too good to be true? I'm considering using it on the non-cleared polished aluminum wheels on my 2002 Dodge Ram.
I use Flitz metal polish (blue-ish stuff in a metal tube) on cutlery, tools, etc. It'll PROBABLY be OK on your (*non-clearcoated*) wheels. It's not too harsh, but I'd try an out-of-the-way spot first, as with anything else you're just getting aquainted with.
I dunno about NON-abrasive, it seems sorta like any other metal polish to me. Not liquid sandpaper, but certainly not non-abrasive either. Everybody seems to like saying their product is non-abrasive....
I honestly don't see any real advantage to using it over any other, automotive-oriented, metal polish.
I've used Flitz on my exhaust pipe, between the catalytic converter and mufflers, It can be difficult to buff off especially lying down in that awkward position, but it did seem to improve the appearance of the metal a bit. My next strategy is to repolish again by applying and removing the Flitz with mfs ( one for applying and another for buffing off polish) taped onto a long handled tire brush.
At least one Dodge "expert" says that the stock 20 inch polished aluminum wheels are not cleared. I think that to be safe and sure, I'll just use a product that is OK on paint -- DACP or maybe just a polish and then apply a coat of NXT.
