Flex review & Video comparing the Flex XC 3401/Porter Cable 7424

Yeah, right!
It's partly cloudy and all the way up to 18 degrees. :wall

But, at least I was able to tie my own shoes. The day I can't do that, I guess would be the day to complain. :D

sorry Charles it's going to be in the 50's today and very sunny  ... why tie shoes if you can just slip them on :lol2:

Just a figure of speech. :)
My everyday shoes do have Velcro closures. :D

The "tie your own shoes" thing is something I heard years ago when someone was greeted with a "Good Morning" and replied with "What's good about it?"
The first person replied, "You tied your own shoes this morning, didn't you? One morning you won't. That might not be a good morning."

I remind myself of that when I get in one of my moods. :notme:

i thought that is why we have kids :hmmm:

First of all, that is a great review and video. That is professional top rate production material there. I am soooooo jealous of your abilities in that particular area!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I really enjoy video editing and photography and glad I can put them to good use!

One thing I didn't see mentioned was the fact that this is a lot more machine than the PC.
It will do a lot more work, but........
It also has the potential to do more damage if not used properly.

True, and I do mention that the Flex 3401 does acts and feels similar to a rotary in my review.

It has already been posted elsewhere that it is possible to polish off enough paint to cause a real problem.

Yes it can, but so can a PC...a PC with a 4" pads can do damage rather quickly also.

People tend to forget that you don't truly remove the marring, you level the paint around the flaw.
While the PC takes a long time to do that, the Flex evidently does not. I'm not bad mouthing the machine at all. In fact, I would love to have one, but the beginner that didn't get into trouble with a PC, might not be that lucky with the Flex.

IMO every machine has it's place - a PC/UDM is the perfect machine for people learning how to polish, that don't need to bust out multiple cars a day or week and people that only use it for their own cars, friends, family, etc. With the right combo, the PC can do wonders:

The Flex 3401 is a great step up from the PC/UDM for speed of correction. It's a great alternative to a rotary for people that don't need a rotary but need to speed up their paint correction. It's not that huge jump from a PC like a rotary is. It's very controllable and since it only spins at a max of 600rpm, it doesn't heat the paint as fast as a rotary will.
