With no rotary experience, I would eventually like to get setup with 1/2/3" pads for those small areas.
Does the pe8s minimum speed of 1300 have people steering more towards the pe14?

I like the size of the PE 8. 1300 is not that fast once you get used to it. If you,are used to DA's,it may take a little time to get used to the rotary. You might try working with the small pads in larger areas until you get the feel for it & then move into the crevices when you are comfortable with the machine.

1300 rpm isn't much considering pad size. 6-7 inch pads at 1300 rpm are moving much much faster at the outside of the pad compared to the inside. You will only be using 1-3" pads with the pe 8 so relatively speaking, the working area of the pad isn't moving very fast at all

I have been on the fence with the PE-8 . I love the soft start on my Makita and not crazy about a on/off switch. I had the 3403 but it seemed a little down on power IMO. Maybe a Pe14 would be a better fit for me.

Get the PE14, best rotary on the market.
