Flex PE 14-2 150 Rotary Polisher Purchase

Own a Meguiar's G110v2 and an PC 7424 (old version), DA user since 2004 or so. Tried a Flex PE 14-2 150 Rotary Polisher for half hour or so on test panel and really enjoyed it, no vibration, quiet and smooth. Only a hobbyist detailer, will my results be any better? Did not seems that difficult to learn to use and I enjoy learning new stuff so playing around with this might be fun. Everyone is going the other way to DA so maybe I am crazy thinking I can improve my results with rotary. Thoughts appreciated?
 
Learning to use a rotary is not difficult if you're shown proper methods, and have a good feel for power tools. It can get you into a bit of trouble if you are not paying attention, but if you're attentive you can pick it up quickly. A lot of people are scared of using a rotary, but I feel with proper guidance it can be taught fairly quickly.
 
Only thing I'd add is be sure to tape up around trim. The paint will roll right off a piece of molding if you touch it with a rotary just right. Don't ask ok - just trust me...

I have the PE14-2-150 totally great rotary. I just bought the Dewalt DWP849X. The dewalt is 1 to 1.5 heavier than the flex and 3 to 4 inches longer than it. The Dewalt has the higher rpm range. I got the dewalt to run dynabrade on. It seems to over shadow the PE14-2. The Festool Shinex RAP-150 is a nice buffer. Barry let me use his and I was going to buy one. Then amazon was running a deal on the PE14-2 where got 3 pads, the flex bag, and an assortment of polishes for the price of the flex plus free shipping.
 
I have the old version of the dewalt and when the new one (Dewalt 849x) came out I was a bit bummed because it (on paper) was better. But, after fiddling with it at the store and having the store manager tell me he's sold 3 and sent 2 back after a month. I'm glad I bought to old one. BTW, I did get to handle that Flex - sweet machine, I'd get that if I had to get a rotary now.
 
I know the Hitachi SP18VA is considered an off brand around here but they can be gotten for a whole lot less money, have a 5 year warranty - that I've only had to use one time in many years with these machines - they run smooth and quiet, cooler and quieter if you change out the grease in the head for a good synthetic, have the D handle, speed from 600 to 3400 and lots of torque.



In response to the first post, I absolutely believe you can take out scratches better and faster with rotary that's why I've never seen colorsanding done with just a rotary.
