Flex Pad Recommendation?

Hey guys, I'm looking into getting the Flex 3401 very soon. I'm wondering what size pads are most commonly used with the flex. I've got a few 6.5 inch and I somehow I ended up with 7.5 inch pads lying around, All CCS. I'm also thinking about taking my current PC and getting a smaller backing plate and 4 in spot buffing pads. Anything info you can give me is appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Sean

Well the backing plate is 5.5 and i use the 6.5 or 5.5 LC orange, white pads mostly, but i am about to order the new HydroTech LC pads, but only because i use M105, and M205 that are water based compunds and polishes. So your safe with the 6.5 LC pads thats what i use with my FLEX

Try out the 7.5" pads. They fit the Flex backing plate well and are my personal favorite. I think I'm in the minority on that, though.

I think you'll lose a lot of the additional power of the Flex with 7.5" pads. I'd go back to the standards - LC Yellow and Orange for polishing, LC White for glaze, black for carnuba and gold for sealant (or black for both wax & sealant)

That applies to random orbit polishers, not dual action polishers like the Flex.

I seem to be the only person here who likes the orange Griot's polishing pads via Flex 3401. Very versatile, you could almost get by with no other pad(s).

The tangerine LC Hydrotech pad is supposedly very similar, but I haven't tried one to know first-hand.
