Flex or Makita?

Rotary is a good decision. I don't however, understand why you would choose to "Finish off with PC" and, I don't believe one achieves the same results with the 3401 or the rotary. I can always get better results using rotary!

Thanks Flashtime, I think that what I'm going to do,

Before using the rotary on customers cars:

1) Learn Proper Rpms, Study and watch detailing techniques with a makita rotary

2) :waxing: Practice and learn on my friends used car dealership haha :)

3) Use it only for really bad cases! then finish off with a PC

4) Take my time, and learn it right before jumping head first!

Reason why I chose the rotary over the flex: If I had to start all over again, I would of chosen the Flex right off the bat, but since I bought a pc and the rotary is a little cheaper than the flex, and does slight better results. I would love to have both the makita and the Flex, but since money doesn't grow on trees... Ill have to go with just the makita right now,

Anyone have any ideas on what pads, to use and settings? Ex: Purple Wool, Wool, CSS Pads?

Holograms come to mind. And yeah, I've seen lots of "hologram-free" cars that weren't ;)

Or fragile paints where there simply cannot be an "oops!" Even guys like Mike Phillips choose to *not* use a rotary on certain vehicles where there's no margin for error (e.g. that green Allard).

Expressing it as "you don't believe" sorta sounds like you're saying people with experiences like mine are *wrong*

OK, I guess different people deal with different situations. I've still never seen any end-result benefit on any of my vehicles from doing things with the rotaries vs. my other polishers :nixweiss

Makita Rotary for me too!

PC is a great backup, finishing tool, or small-space polisher, but for large panels nothing can compare to a well-trained rotary!
