Flex or G110 V.2?

I'm also a newbie, and have been wondering about this as well. But there is no way I can spend over 200 without pads. I like that nobody said to stay away from the cheaper priced RO. And since GS4 already has the Porter Cable, & wants to move away form it. It seems that the Griots would be perfect; unless you can spend more $$$ on a Flex. If I am reading it correctly.

LOL watch that backing plate give your paint more cut then your pad and product. I was actually in the same situation several months back, I ended up going through the 7424xp and a flex 3401 til I finally settled with my griots polisher (ver 2) and am 100% satisfied. I haven't came across a detail that the right pad and compount or polish couldn't handle. I sold my flex and the pcxp.

Jose - I use the above combo daily and due to the thickness of these smaller pads, the only damage the backing is doing is to the eyes. It looks ugly but that doesn't matter becasue it works extremely well.

I'd say that the big difference between the 2 polishers is how long the detail will take. With all the power the flex has? Using the pc = wasting time.:2thumbs:

I always used my Flex on every detail, but I find myself more and more using my XP with four inch pads. I don't know why. It's easy to hold with one hand I guess.

Flex can easily use 5.5" pads, which is all you'll need with it. I'd recommend keeping the PC for 3-4" pad setup for any small areas you get on certain cars, but I've been using LC 5.5" pads with the Flex DA and it's worked great.

The 4" on the Flex is a bad idea but definitely works. It's the same thing as polishing with one hand with the rotary, not taping off trim, etc. It can be done just as well as the "correct" way to do it, but is just not worth the risk(s) IMO.
