Flex 3403 VRG

Anyone have any experience with this rotary? I'm liking the idea of the 2.2kgs and high rpms. How is velcro pad attached to the polisher 5/8 11 threading?

Thanks in advance.

Retail price is $334.73 according to Flex NA.

Speaking to a local place, they can sell it for $220. I have a call into another local place to see what their price is.

Ben at Powerhouse dist said $199+$10 shipping. Must resist. :wall

Speed dial in a very nice location and a trigger. :nixweiss

Actually, the body looks very similar to the XC 3401 VRG. If you take the black plastic piece that covers the top of it where the spindle lock it, it's almost identical. Just a different handle and a rotary instead of DA. Woudl probably be very similar in weight too. I do have their LK 302 rotary which is a bit bigger and has RPMs from 800 - 2000, but haven't busted it out yet. I ordered the Edge adapter for it, but have not seen if it fits yet. Also, ordered the Flex BP for it which is hook and loop.

This is a very nice piece of machinery. Light and powerful, the only negative I can think is that you cant use larger pads (6,5" is maximum), But since I perefere smaller pads 5,25-6" I am not affected by this.

I have seen many guys been frightend about that the lowest rpm is 900. But don´t worry it´s no problem to finish out black colours with a finishing pad and a fine polish(If you know how to handle a rotary).

The speed dial and trigger are very easy to reach when polishing.

For $200 it´s a steal, I would take 2! :spot In Sweden the retail price is $599

EDIT:

The weight is 1,9 kg or ~4lbs. Perfect for tight spots since it´s very light and easy to handle.

Porta, Have you tried to use a larger pad with it? I use the 8" wool alot. Thanks for your thoughts.

This is not a heavy duty machine like the Makita, Larger flexes and etc. It´s built for smaller pads. The engine is powerful but the transmission is to weak. The machine will get very hot and the heat fuse will set in.

So I would not recomend using a 8" wool pad for cutting with this machine. I used it with 5-6" foamed wool pad and Menzerna PO85RD3.02 or Menzerna PG for cutting, Then straight to a final polishing pad and PO85RE5.

Thanks Porta! I do have one of the LC purple foamed wool pads, but I like still use the edge setup and wool pads 80% of the time. Looks like I will pass for now.

Did you realy think that a tiny machine would performe like a heavy duty polisher?

I think Flex wrote in the information about the mache that it´s not built for larger pads.

I have been using 170 mm but only on higher rpms.

If the spindle is 5/8-11 the adapter will fit perfect! then you can change to any size pad without having a backing plate. That said, it does look like 6 inch size is best reccommended for this machine. Just to note that we also make the adapter for 14mm for Europe, 16mm for Asia, and have a DA 5/16 male adatper for random orbit machines like the PC, Cyclo, and UDM, a special Makita B06040 adapter, and soon to be released a conversion kit for the new Flex forced rotation DA as seen here.
