Fleet pricing

I have the opportunity to maintain a fleet of vehicles for a company and I am not sure of the pricing. Here is a list of the vehicles;

6 stretch limo's
8 25ft shuttle buses
2 40ft shuttle buses
1 25ft limo bus
1 Escalade
1 suburban

They pretty much want the limo's washed 3 times a week, 3 of the buses washed a week the Escalade 2 times, Suburban once a week and the Limo bus 2 times a week.

Any Ideas?

Give them an hourly rate that seems reasonable to you. See what they think about that otherwise figure out how long you think its going to take you to do each of the limos and go from there. I wouldn't give much more than 10%- 20% discount on typical charges. Otherwise your selling yourself short. However if you need the work you might go lower. Also you might want to think of how long the total work load is going to be and if your going to have time to do full details for other people.

I have been trying to figure the hourly rate into the picture and my hourly rate is about $50-$60. This is going to be an evening job and I will have a helper with me as well. Trying to build this into something that I can let my so called apprentice do for me after we get things going and then I can just help to maintain the contract as it goes.

Kenny you know hgow hard it is to detail the Excursion Right? That should give you an idea of what to charge. Otherwise i have no idea. Your Hourly rate sounds about right to me though.

I do know how hard it is to do the Excursion for sure. This is a big deal for me and puts me in a good position to do something that I have been trying to do. As mentioned above I don't want to sell myself short but I would like this account. I do know some of the specifics on why this guy is looking to change companies and I will of course use that to my advantage. He is currently having to drive them to a car wash to have them fully detailed and then go back to pick them up (time wasted). The guy that is washing them on-site just so happens to not be "his" job. So I think with this information I should be able to make this guy a pretty good offer.

I also think it is better to be high and then be able to work your way down in price then to come in low and later try to raise it. You can always give them a price that may be on the high side and then negotiate down. Cannot really do that the reverse way.

Richard

Be careful not to out price yourself. It may be cheaper for the company to hire a clean-up person to do this on a regular basis and then pay for the full details once in a while.

Why dont you hire someone to go there and do the work for you? Charge him out at $xxx and pay him $yy? I do this type of thing for a living, not with cars though.

I am strictly mobile and go on-site.

I am in negotiations with the company right now and am competing with another company that is already doing it. Seems his prices are a bit cheaper than what I came in at. I have adjusted my prices some and am now in the second round of negotiations.

Kenny

Honestly I've been mobile for 16 years and I couldn't come up with a price on those vehicles. However it would be a nice customer to have so I'd be willing to wash a few of the vehicles free to gauge how much time I would be looking at. With the frequency of the cleaning I'd think they'd go pretty smooth. Whatever I normally make an hour, I'd expect to make at least that.

Gregcavi could defently tell you a lot about this subject. Their are a few threads here where he posted his process and pics it could give you a lot of insight as to what you can expect. From the looks of his before pics these vehicles where trashed from improper washing/drying..

kbiii, you should be able to command a higher price than the company they are working with now. Mobile services should be charged at a premium, and this convenience is a big selling point for you. Explain the time, money, and hassle these guys are putting forth just to have to take the vehicles to the other detailers location. Think about it, most other mobile business and businesses that make "house calls" charge a premium for their services...why shouldn't you be able to do the same. Try not to get into a price war with the other company or any other company for that matter...as usually nobody wins in that situation. Rather, educate the customer on the benefits, a higher quality service, and convenience that they will get by using your company. Good luck getting this account.
