FLAKERS = No $$$$

It happens to all of us however it has been happening to me alot lately. Twice last week I am calling a customer to tell them I will be arriving soon and ...."sorry but...." Now I have a big hole in the middle of my day with nothing to do and my over head is still adding up. Thanks fakes I lost $450 last week , $200 already this week. I know people will suggest getting a deposit before I arrive but if someone asked me for my credit card number to hold a appoinment I would LAUGH and hang up the phone.

Unfortunately, that happens in all service businesses. Other than getting a credit card to charge a fee for no-notice cancellations, there isn't much you can do.

ad $50 to the bill next time. when they ask why, tell them they actually cost you $400 that day for the no notice cancelation and forced you into an unwanted day off.

Why not take on the popular medical practice of confirming appointments a day or two ahead of time? Or are you already doing that? Also inform them ahead of time of a cancellation fee, like many doctors will charge for you not showing up.

That sounds like a good idea, has anyone tired that ? How much should be charged or what percent in case of a cancellation. I will consider this within the 24 hour time frame however I see a problem if its no deposit or contract.

As far as I know, my dentist and doctor don't have a contract with me, either :)

I would think that it makes sense to limit it to cancellations within a 24 hour period.

Just take some time during lunch each day to call your appointments two days out and confirm. Do it again at the end of the day for any you couldn't get ahold of. Set reminders on your calendar/iphone/computer, whatever.

When I have a detailed scheduled.. I always call and confirm the night before between 6:30 and 7:00 P. You have to realize that excrement occurs and there will be times where a client will have to cancel.. sometimes at the last minute due to family emergency, death, etc.

Cancellations go both ways. I have had to cancel scheduled details due to being at a fire long after my tour of duty is supposed to end, holdovers at the firehouse due to weather, getting called in for hazmat coverage, etc.

A sad reality when dealing with customers(first meeting). I've never had clients(returning customers) do this to me which is extremely lucky when I think about it. Although I do take standard precautions so this doesn't happen. When the appointment is booked I always notify them that i'll be contacting them the day before just to ensure that both parties are still able to make the appointment. Never had an issue after that. Usually if they can't make it, I just have a free day to myself. Then again, I do this as a hobby and detail on my weekends.

I don't have many of these. Though, I do explain when setting the appointment that I understand things happen and sometimes appointments must be broken for more important things. But if at all possible, contact me asap to let me know.
