FK1000P Big White

Accumulator, you suggest Collinite 476 on a dark car over the FK1000P ?
The Mazda 6 that my neighbor did was willing to let his FK1000P go cheap. Maybe I'll offer to trade it for him.
I'll be buying the 476 just to try on his car.

I don't recommend topping FK1000 with anything unless you just can't stand the look. I've never topped it. If I *WERE* to top it, I'd consider using the FK Pink Wax, which was made specifically for that. No idea whether the 476S would play nice with underlying FK1000P, but I'd expect it to go OK if buying the FK Pink isn't in the cards.

..[FK1000P]... Looks as good on black as 845.

Well, that might be "damning with faint praise" as IMO 845 is one of those "bright, reflective" LSPs that can lack the "depth and jetting" that many people like to see with black. Not that I usually give all that much consideration to such stuff myself, but I do prefer how 476S looks on dark colors as compared to 845/FK1000P/M16/P21s.

I wasn't going to top it. I plan on giving it a Poorboys ProPolish on the hood to see what gets his glossy look back.
He did tell me that two coats were applied which may have affected the Mazda turning out the way it did.

Very true if you put in on THIN, THIN, THIN!! Takes me about an hour total--apply by hand about 30 minutes then allow it to haze then 30 to remove including the wheels and barrels. While I've never used a coating I've watched allot of videos of coating behavior with water and the FK1000 seems to act in the same way--water just jumps off the surface.

Takes me about 2-2.5 hours to apply (and buff) FK1000P but I'm meticulous and my Jeep has a lot of real estate to cover (the bumpers, grills, doorjambs, and engine bay painted surfaces take me the longest by far).

Never use 476 I Always wanted to try it, my truck is tuxedo black as I said previously looks just fine it's in great condition but it's not a show car. I'll post some pics when the sun returns but the little we had since I applied it fk1000 had plenty of pop for me.

2-2.5 hours is understandable it you're doing the doorjambs, engine bay paint etc. I just do those with Aquawax.

Well, don't feel bad...it takes me longer than that to LSP most anything and that's not counting the hours I spend on the out of the way places (I can spend forever doing things like trunk hinges). [Heck], I spend well over an hour just spray-waxing the undercarriage and engine compartment every time I wash anything and that's after all the time it takes to clean those areas.

Yeah, I can "LSP a vehicle" in a few minutes same as anybody else, the broad expanses go quick and easy...but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sorta the same as washing IMO. When a grille has a few dozen slots (and maybe four surfaces per slot), just finishing *that* can take a long, long time when doing *anything*.
