Fk1000

The first time I tried Wheel Wax - same result, instant concrete, I tried a few months later with "whisper thin" and it worked much better. I guess I'm heavy handed but I swear - nothing should be that hard to remove. I guess that's why I like liquid waxes - sealers better. I can do Souveran though.

I used 1000P for the first time last week, and I was very impressed with how easy it came off. It's not as easy as Souveran or P21s 100%, but it's fairly close.

I completely agree that it is my fault - technique, conditions, I don't know. It sure went on easy - just turned to concrete afterwards. By streaks - I mean there were traces of wax after you think you have wiped it all off. Now, looks - no matter how the application went, the results should be the same, maybe better in my case since I must have used too much and it sure got rubbed and shined, the look is nothing special. If it was I'd try really hard to try it again. One thing I believe, it sure ought to last a long while. Probably polish it off and use something else long before it gives up.

JuneBug, I'm thinking that you might have gotten it on too thick, let it stay on too long, or possibly had some sort of contaminant in your applicator (previous wax or sealant residue) that had a bad reaction with it. 1000P is *such* a good product, that I'd hate to see you give up after one bad experience. It's *seriously* good stuff. Bence is one of the guys on this board that when he recommends a product, I pay attention. And I am *very* glad I did; 1000P is tied with UPGP now as my favorite sealant.

There are certain colors which are not good companions to 1000P. Certain dark shades won't cooperate with it too well and produce an uninspiring look. BUT! Wait 2-3 days and check the look. If you see gains in definition and overall clarity, apply a second and a third léayer a day apart. Then wait again 2-3 days to see if the 1000P can show its true potential or it is not that suitable for that color.

The concrete thingy is really surprising because this stuff is very forgiving - but of course you have to apply it correctly, thinly. Try it again with whisper thin coats.

1000P does this to me everytime. It's kinda like Vintage in that respect. Vintage looks best after a few days and at least one washing later. 1000P looks best after a day or two, and either a good QD'ing or a wash.

I think my Q got lost in the shuffle (assuming somebody has an answer): any issues applying FK1000P over top of various products?

I've only tried it over KAIO, which seemed suitably similar to the FK stuff I know it'll work over. But what about other underlying products...any bonding issues?

The only thing I've put 1000p over is DWG, and it doesn't seem to be affecting it's durability at all. It's at five weeks now, and doing well.

Let's see, wax was warm, air temp was at least 80 degrees, car was washed with Dawn and dried, humidty was HIGH, applicator was not new but was cleaned with Dawn Power Desolver and dried, I applied to whole car - burgandy 08 Accord, waited 15-20 minutes and tried to chisel it off. Guys, I wanna like this stuff, I had good results from 2180,then I topped with Pink Wax and it kinda ruined that look though - should have stayed with 2180. A friend told me to refrigerate the wax and try -he had the opposite, hard to apply, easy to remove.

I guess I need to go see my detailing neighbor and see where I screwed up, stay tuned - same Bat Time, same Bat Channel!

SuperBee364- Thanks for the reply. DWG is, however one of those products I woulda assumed was OK...I just don't want to try the FK 1000P over the wrong stuff and have bigtime regrets. Not that I plan to use it on anything in the immediate future anyhow.

Hmmm I think I need to place an order with FK. Some 1000p and 425. My friend has a 70 Mach 1 it was repainted 3 months ago and wants me to "clean" it up. I am thinking DWG and 1000p?

....I just replenished my cabinets a couple of days ago. In that order I added a gallon of FK425 and 1000p (along with a couple of other items I have been wanting to try for a long time). So much for sticking with my plan of trying to use up some my existing LSP's/supplies first.
