FK1 and Black Porsche

Many thanks guys! :xyxthumbs

Hey Sean, I'll have to contact you when this beast arrives! :D

Looks as if I'm off to order some FK1 products to play with. Only no car really to "play" with at this point.

Porsche paint is quite nice from what I've seen at the dealer. The silver paints are really wonderful. I was going to go with the GT Silver, but at $3K for the paint I passed. :nervous: Needed to put the money in more performance items and a few niceites :D

Now I'm thinking.... should I get the wheels painted black by Porsche? They paint the inside of the rim leaving a nice silver "lip" around the bead edge. Ahh the choices..

Thanks once again guys and see you sometime soon (pending strike outcome) with pics and drive-by! :woot2:

Regards,

Deanski

Black on black looks great if you keep it CLEAN... and you do/will...I'd say yes, if the order hasn't gone in yet. It will distinguish it from the pack.

And yes, you better call me before it gets there.

You know it Sean! :grinno:

Getting excited... only problem is no firm build date yet for March. I'll have to stop by the dealer to see where it's at and if the order can be changed for the wheels. I think it's a 1200 option. But I've seen pics with the new Carerra S wheels (known as lobster claws) painted black with that silver lip by the bead which look pretty damn nice! I've also seen the wheels fully painted rim and all.

With the Aero kit (looks like the new GT3) PCCB's (ceramic brakes) and full black interior with yellow seat belts, I think this thing will look very sweet indeed! Didn't go with the X51 power kit as it was 17K option! :shocked

After polishing, the car will have the Armorglove installed, a K40 radar system installed and I may try what other 997 owners are doing for satellite radio... Use the Cayanne satellite kit to reto-fit the 997 with satellite. So far, several have done it with success. It's not an option for the 997, not yet.

Oder to go into FK1 soon.

Thanks guys!

Deanski

I think that would look good on a 997. Is the ArmorGlove a clear bra?

We expect lots of hirez pics of this beauty. :)

yes Armorglove is the clear bra. And, they have new film that is much clearer.

Let's see if I can change the order for the wheels.

I wonder how FK1 and Zaino are in a side-by-side as to sealants. Who is more reflective, who is more clear or if there is any depth.

used the FX100 sealant today on the Carrera 5 spokes. The second that stuff was wiped away I could see a high gloss shine. Sprayed the whole car with it, nice bannana smell. Finished up with the #425 Ultra Slick Poly Wipe. NICE!!

digital Camera batteries died! :(

p.s.

if you plan on selling the P-car and if you passed on GT Silver for your Porsche because of the added cost I might reconsider that decision (not too late change) . I've been shopping for a 996 C4 (keeping BoxsterS for summer only) and I've noticed that Black Porsches seem to sit around longest. In other words NOT going with the silver paint could cost you.

Having a black car in the past I definitely would only buy a black Porsche unless it was new. Most new car owners really don't care for black paint as it should be. Not to mention all the rock chips on the hood and front bumper that are *far* more noticeable and no garage queen can escape that unless you do a full clear bra on the both hood and bumper.

GT silver and Boxster red/savanahh beige/cocoa brown are very low maintenace choices.

I'll clean thoroughly one Sunday and it will look just as clean for weeks. With my triple black prvious car ti was dirty inside and out within hours of top down driving.

Next time, just for comparison purposes, leave FX-100 alone, without 425. Let it cure for at least 12 hours then touch it. You won't believe the slickness.

Well the Fx100 is on my wheels without the 425. I'll be using that each time I wash the car. I clena my wheels several times in between washes. One thorough cleaning with the spoke brush to clean the barrell.

How does the Pink Wax compare to S100? I've not really noticed a huge difference on Silver between my P21s, S100 and Pinnacle Signature Series. The great thing about Silver is that it looks great in the sun and at night but its hard to get that deep reflection one gets from high quality nubas on such a neutral color. But the low maintenance is well worth the trade off.

This is for a new order, March build for my 997 C2S.

Black IS a PITA. But, with Armorglove on the same areas as I had on the SC430 should protected it quite well.

I don't think I'll sell it as I have quite a bit of HP stuff in it. PCCB's, PSE, Sport Shift, Adaptive sport seats etc.

Interior: Full black leather with yellow seatbelts (match the PCCB calipers).

Thanks for the input! :xyxthumbs

Interesting!

racing,

is your Pink fresh? How many layers? If you applied only one, just throw on another and examine the finish in the next three days. I'm curious what you'll see...

Tell us. :D

Deanski, yes, with the help of the FX-100 the 425 gains another dimension in slickness. The FX-100 in unbelievably slick. When I was testing 425, I used it alone lots of times on a freshly prepped surface. After curing, - yes it cures - it is also very very slick. But FX-100 is WOW. FX-100 & 425 is another WOW.

OK, what about FK1 and Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Jett? How different are they?

You know, the wait is killing me! :hairpull I keep seeing others getting delivery of their Porsche and still no word. I sit around with Makita in hand and try to find things to buff up. I just did the granite in the kitchen... Nice shine...

I've already held one bottle (32oz) of Menzerna P085RD off to the side for when it arrives. The detail crew at the dealership are top notch (odd isn't it though?) as I've viewed the way they work AND the finished job. I'm trying to get them acclimated to Menzerna P085RD before my C2S arrives. Wait till they play with THAT polish! :D

One good thing about PCCB's... hardly any brake dust and stop like you threw out an anchor! One BAD thing?... rotor replacement cost... like $5K per rotor! :shocked :shocked

I hope to get pics on process when it hits the dealer with all that's going on the car as well.

Thanks again guys! :xyxthumbs

I have the original CL LLS. I like it very much, because it is very wet on colors that can't really make this wonderful effect visible. Significantly easier to use than the old version. Hate the smell though.

I haven't made a direct FK1/CL comparo.

Why don't you show us some pictures.. Let the pictures do the talking. :-)

On one of our Porsche forums (RENNLIST), one owner posted pics of his black Porsche he treated with FK1. Very nice reflection.

I'll see if I can pull over the pics from the post.

Oh, my car finished production, passed Checkpoint 8 and is now waiting for a boat! :woot:

Jedi,

Nice ooomph for introduction. Looks like an unpatient padawan. Browse through the Autopia & DC galleries, and you'll find pics.

If you really wanna experience the slickness of FX-100, you must try the product. That simple.
