OK with all the discussion on FK1 and their product line being so damn good can anyone inform me as to which products are needed for a brand new black Porsche '06 997? :nixweiss



As you know, I do like sealants AND Souveran or Nattys combo as well as Zaino (flame off).



I'm looking for high wet look, reflective, AND dust free as possible.



Need products to also maintain (QD's) and wheel treatments.



Thanks to all who can recommend which of the products to use on black. :2thumbs:



And no, the Porsche has not been delivered yet, don't even have a firm production date! :mad:

If it has swirls or needs polishing Menzerna PO85RD, then Red moose glaze X 2, Then no questions asked Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax X 2 or 3, then Fk 425 will keeps the dust down. JMHO but this is what my car loves!!
 
I really prefer optimum polish over any of the fk1 abrasives. But your selant and qd defiantely has to be 2180 and 425... Check it out. This is assuming you want straight fk1.



I even got a btter idea, go ahead and get the sampler pack. You can try their whole line and then decide from there for only 20 bucks.

Prior to delivery, the car will be prep with Menzerna 85RD. Once clean and ready for LSP, I'll try a sealant/wax/QD or whatever to keep it nice and wet looking.



I've always been a big fan of Souveran and may also try that over a sealant as well.



I'd like to stay within the FK1 line, but not knowing the line is what got to me. I'm seeing quite a bit of products and which does what for what color/finish was my question. Different sealants, waxes and QD's more so than other product lines.



Anyway, I thank all of you for your assistance seeing this line is new to me. :scared:

The FK1 sample pack is a very good suggestion. You really can't go wrong by trying out their stuff to see if you like it for only $20.
 
Deanski, I agree with the others regarding Optimum and Menzerna, but I'm yet to try the FK polishes. I received my samples yesterday, so maybe I can report back when you got your car and I have more experience with them.



If you work with FK, always go slowly, meticulously, because this stuff loves to be worked in properly, and thoroughly. 'Load up the pores of the paint' - this is what I feel when I'm working with them.



My process would be:

2180 ×2-3 as a base (or hit it first with 218 - warmer look)

1000P ×2

Pink ×2

FX-100*



and maintenance with 425.



The FX-100 is a terrific spray sealant, which has a lovely look and great slickness after a day. And of course, 425 is a broad spectrum QD for exterior & interior work. Use it on everything! Gauges, wood, carbon fiber, aluminum, even hard plastics. Excellent for navi screens too.



Ask for samples when you order, because they are generous with samples.





*of course as needed. It will provide warmth and vivifies colors.

I would polish with your favorite polish + FK #2180 + #425 wipe down + FK #2180 + #425 wipe down + Pink Wax + #425 wipe down + Pink Wax spit shined with #425 + FX100 final wipe down

Great process as well!
 
Something has got me confused....FX-100 they say "a hard, long lasting finish. The results are outstanding adding depth and dimension. It Leaves the finish with a high gloss, rich luster and a deep wet custom show car finish" but it gets only a 7 on depth and 8 on gloss. Is it better than they say?

Yep, I'm sure it will be garaged and maintained like the SC430! :grinno:



So it seems the 2180 is the sealant de'sure. And the 425 is the QD as well. Pink Wax... why'd they have to call it pink wax? Wonder how close it is to Souveran? The FX100 shows having a lower gloss level than the 425? Now why put something of a lower gloss level after you've put on pink wax and 425? Is there something I'm missing? :hm



Damn it! I wish the dealer would email me my production start date! The wait is killing me! :furious: On top of the wait, now there's a strike going on in Germany :wall I hear Porsche is effected by this strike as well. :hairpull



Maybe I'll see it by summer? :think: :hmph:

I just received the Fx100 and 425.

The Fx100 has that "heavy stuff" sinks to the bottom of the bottle aspect about it.

Still too cold to try it out but the car will be in heated garag this weekend.

I'm looking for a new sealant in spray form. Hopefully this will do the trick

I'll be giving the Poorboys EX with nuba a shot too, which is said to be the only sealant that gives \ equal parts depth and gloss.

If so I'll reassign the FX 100 for wheel duty.

Unknown how Porsche paints these days. But none the less, the paint is very nice! Love the black, so I went with it. I know I'll be kicking myself everytime I have to clean and maintain it, but Porsche black is one of the best looking I've seen.



So it may go FK1 #2180 sealant, then the QD #425 and layer several times, then top with Souveran in place of "pink" wax.

Do you want the Sealant or Carnauba look?





#218 is a GREAT sealant that looks very similar to the top carnaubas. You could kill two birds with one stone there.
 
I agree with Sean. Besides, when FK states a lower gloss number, they are referring to a softer, warmer, carnauba-like appearance. Their 2180, 1000P, and 425 are the glossiest (aka most reflective) products, but the 218, 216, FX-100, 185 or 2685 have a very pleasant, warm tone. That's why I mentioned 218 as a starter layer then the reflective ones.

As Bence Suggested, but I'd say to polish with



1 - FK1 303! (since it is a new & black car)

2 - 2180

3 - 1000

4 - pink wax



Or,



216 (FK1's aio)

pink wax

425



PS: I detailed a dark blue Saleen Mustang today and used 216 on it. One terrific product.
