fk1 425 addiction

If 425 is streaking you are probably using to much product. I use the sample bottle because the sprayer is a much finer mist. Usually 1 squirt per panel... maybe 2 for the hood.

umm, sorry, typo, decontamination properties... not like 883, but you know, I guess

weaker, I'll take a little sub-surface schmutz abatement if it's a by-product.

Might end up with their abc system. I should ask them the next time I call for

a sample size kit, since their small kit does 8-9 vehicles.

I think it's

(1) 1119 - purge all - removes all wax

(2) 883 - rust remover

and I'm not sure, but maybe (3) is 1016 - polymer sealant wash

they also mention a (4)

I want some 108 also to try on my H-D. Not on the paint or chrome, but all the little

plastic, rubber, nylon vinyl.

My hog is an acetate based paint, or something not so common, LPV so... actually scared about what to try on that.

mark at fk1 also stated 425 was fantastic on chrome, might try it as a top coat first over the other chrome system I'm using. I mean Blue Magic works on chrome too, but much better if it's cleaned first. And then it almost works TOO good.

Von Dutch motorcycle party tomorrow, my bike is looking raggedy, I still might pop by.

Decontamination properties, aka dissolving/removing fallout/contaminants? No, they don't have it. I am sure the rep (Mark?) was thinking of anti static properties. He is right, the 425 is excellent on almost everything. I've got whopping result on my former-dust magnet Discman, laptop screen or when I treated the wheel-axles of my mouse with it...

that is the an awesome idea, I almost forgot about practical uses.

Can I mix my gallon of 425 with 8 oz of Speed Shine?

Have a little left, will that mess anything up? Just thinking, the Griots QD has a little carnuba

in there and the 425 doesn't.

I have been considering buying some 108 and/or 317.

If you have used either, can you offer some info on these?

108 is a poly protectant . . . great for interior/exterior leather, rubber, and vinyl. It incorporates a blend of anti-static properties and UV inhibitors. Best of all, 108 is very durable and leaves a low gloss, matte finish on dash and trim. No grease . . . dries to the touch. Great on convertible top too!

317 is a solvent-based restorer for exterior rubber and trim. Again, super durable (fortified with polymers) and dries to the touch. 317 is fantastic on weathered trim and old rubber moldings . . . it doesn’t rinse off in the rain either. I’ve tried a dozen or so ‘restoring’ products over the years – this is one is my favorite :xyxthumbs

Go and mix Zymol Royale with Turtle Wax Color Back and chime back!

Heh heh, aw, come on, the Griot's SpeedShine isn't that bad ;) I just used it on my wife's A8. It's still one of my favorite carnauba-based QDs.

But no, I wouldn't mix 'em either. I wouldn't be surprised if it lead to something like streaking.

...Obviously, ...but... I.... couldn't...

...resist....

A little off topic... Will FX-100 remove any amount of a previously applied sealant (AJ on a black car, in my case)? I'd like to use it as an after wash appearance booster (that lasts), but I wouldn't want it to affect the base coat. I'm thinking that FX-100 might be deeper/wetter on black than #425. TIA.

Your feeling are correct. It lasts pretty long, mind-blowingly slick, and won't remove anything. It looks seriously good on blacks.

I'd apply it monthly or biweekly and maintain with 425 after washes. You'll see how frequently will you need it, depending on conditions.

Bence, I was thinking of using FX-100 in place of #425. A sort of "super" QD. This is a garaged, Sunday car and is only washed once every couple of weeks. I never QD the car after it's been on the road (exclusive of removing a harmful contaminate), so I don't need this product for that purpose. Appearance is the primary goal, but I'd like the look to last until the next wash, too. Basically my question is, if it were one or the other, which would you use as a QD on black? TIA.

Rob,

First, just put on one layer of FX-100. Then look how long will it last. Don't use QD on it yet. When the slickness diminishes, you can apply more, and then maintain with 425. FX-100 is awesome on black.

When you want to use something strictly for QD use, the 425 is perfect.

I've decided not to use one without the other. Kind of like Klasse SG and AIO.

FX100 has a great gloss but its kind of thick, if you let it sit for a while it seperates in the bottle. I think you would go through it pretty quickly if you used it as a QD. The 425 will do allot more of the preserving.

425 is thick too but a little goes a long way.

racingbeat,

I see, so FX-100 isn't as application friendly with a MF towel as a purpose made QD. I didn't know it was heavier than a QD. I guess it's more like using AJ as a spray... it spreads well enough with a MF towel, but I wouldn't want to use it after every wash.
