I was all set to re-do my truck with FK 215 AIO in preparation for a couple coats of 1000p.

I just noticed that last fall I had the wrong stuff shipped to me . I read up on the 218 and read the label and I'm a little confused on where to apply it. I don't get if I apply it pre 1000p or after 1000p to make it pop more.

Can some one help clarify for me .

215 is more of a one step, light polish and sealant. 218 has very little cleaning or polishing abilities and is just an old generation sealant. Do not put either on top of 1000P I was Finish Kare Sales Manager from 1988 until the fall of 1995 in case you wonder how I know the products so well.

Ron--do you advise applying 1000P with a machine or by hand??  Also, can you do the whole car (thin application) then buff off or do you need to do section by section??

1000P was formulated as a "mold release" agent/wax. It has a very high melt/evaporation point. It was developed before dual action machines, so went meant to be applied by hand, in thin coats. It may be applied by machine, but sometimes difficult to get thin enough coats. It was formulated to be "layered" on the tooling mold, up to 5 layers. Put on one thin, allow to cure as per label instructions, wipe off the indicators using the "break first, wipe second" method, than apply an additional coat, repeat.

Section by section is not necessary, after all, when it is applied to say a 30 fiberglas boat tooling mold, it is not done in sections. Just let it cure/dry and then "break wipe, followed by removal wipe".

Fallguy, it would work, but due to the hydrocarbon carrier solvent in the 218 or 215 (which has more) it will weaken the 1000P. Such solvents are what is used to remove 1000P when necessary. They break down the resin system of the 1000P, shortening it's life span.
