Fixing Small Hood Chips

On the hood of my car, there are some small chips, likely from road pebbles or such. They haven't hurt the paint, but have just made indentions in the clearcoat.



What kind of product should I use to work on these? Will a non-abrasive polish fill them in effectively, or should I consider something else?



I'm sure this has been covered before, but the search hasn't worked in the past couple of days. I keep getting database problems. :(
 
If they are chips that seem deep, it's just touchup paint and then wetsand them. I know there is a write-up of how to do that in the Garage section of Miata.net, there might be one here. It's very time consuming.



Recently, about a week or two ago, someone here tried using a thinner rather than the wetsanding. He seemed pleased since he was doing many many chips.



I hate all the chips on the front of my car. Makes it look like it has dandruff or something.
 
it's not so much a permament solution. But, i've found that coating over the chips with a good glaze or polish (like PPCL or BF polish) does a really good job in masking htem. If you get close you can still see them, but from a normal distance it has a wierd optical illusion effect. It's kind of hard to explain but very noticible. I'd much rather slap something on them to cover them up then try and sand/paint over them. Too much risk for me.
 
Anyone know the steps I should tahe to get rid of the rock chips on the hood? What git sandpaper to use?

How long can the glaze last? I though usually glazes are very short term?

Uneducated Assumption Below!!!



If you put a sealant over the glaze, shouldn't the glaze last at least as long as the sealant?
 
Guys when you use a toothpick to let the paint flow in ... won't there be a depression in the centre of the paint as that is where the toothpick is touching .... how do you all not have that depression?
