the car i did my last wax test on was going to be sold, but my parents changed their minds, and are going to hold onto it until my sister graduates from grad school in a couple more years. so, that leaves me with a vehicle (other than my own ) to do a wax test on . i plan to begin the test as soon as i finnish this write up.

heres the line up:

i already washed the car with dawn, then i prepped the car as i did before in my previous test. with mothers pre cleaner, followed by two IPA wipedowns.

The glass will br treated with duragloss nu glass before the water repellants are applied. i didnt use the test because i read that the center of the hood getting hotter, from the heat produced by the engine could mess up results, which does make sense.. so im leaving the hood out of this, atleast for the time being.

ill post pictures later tonight of the products layed out on the car, and more detail about application. ease of use. etc etc. comments are appreciated.

ok. so i finnished setting everything up. time for some pics

heres the repellants.

with the spray waxes, all applied easily, and were pleasant to use.

The waxes on the roof varied a bit more. blackfire wet diamond went on super easy and very thin, never drying to a real haze like the others, came off the easiest too, very easy to use .The 3m performance finish went on just like the rest, but i let it sit a little too long, and removal wasnt as easy, not difficult, but the least pleasant of the bunch. Surf City's barrier reef carnuba wax deffinatley required the most to get a "thin" even coating, it felt like it didnt want to spread as easily as the others. Auto glym HD wax nice to apply and remove, but not as nice as the s100 was, but was about the same in the ease of removal department. the s100 was probably the second easiest to apply.

so for ease of use. from best to worse. if say:

black fire, s100, autoglym, surf city, and 3m in last place, although i still wouldnt consider any of them hard to use, they were all pretty easy.

the car will sit in the garage over night, and be put outside some time tomorro, or monday. but everything will have atleast 12 hours to cure. its supposed to rain monday, so if i get home from school before its too dark, ill take some initial beading shots. leave some comments people.

i agree. it would be better to have a larger area for each product.. but its such a small car, and it seemed to work pretty well last time. .. you could see a definate difference between each products area... mabye ill take the 4 best from this and split the roof into 4 sections next time.. or take suggestions.. but until then, this is my test.

I agree that the areas are small, but it was very easy to see the differences in the last test. Just need to be creative with the camera angles. Looking forward to the results!
