So, i just finished up with my first ever detailing venture, and i figured i'd put up some pictures of my car, a Spicy Orange Mazdaspeed Protege. Unfortunately it wasn't sunny out, because the flake and the pearl just POP when it is. The last pic on the inner edge of the mirror is prolly the best for showing the color difference you get when its sunny out, it brings out alot of yellows, and some red. I am going to try and take some pics when it is sunnier, but i don't have a very nice camera.

Process was-

Dawn dishsoap

Z-18 claybar

Z-7 carwash

Z-5(x2) polish, with Z6 directly before and after coats

Z-2Pro (x2) polish, with Z6 directly before and after coats

Z-16 on tires

Overall i'm real proud of it. I do have some swirlage and a few scratches that i will eventually polish out, i just didn't have the money at this time.

Hope you guys enjoy!! :getdown

EDIT: I used Armorall Glass and Window cleaner on the windows, and while it looks good i think it could be better. Can you guys reccomend me a product that is safe for tint?? I woulda gone with the zaino glass stuff too, but its not supposed to be used on films.

Looks great from here! Lucky you to have an MSP, and a shiny one at that.

Post some more pics when the sun comes out.

I use a damp MF applicator or towel to clean my tinted windows. No chemicals needed. Just wipe with the damp app/towel, then wipe dry with another MF towel.

JMV,

A new employee at work has the exact model Protege with the same orange color. I agree with you, without sunlight you have no clue how good the color is. Lots of metalflake and the color becomes much lighter with direct sunlight. Nice car, I'm jealous of your Protege. Her (the new employee) Protege looks like dog doo with no wax, no washing, etc.

Nice job on a nice car.

Thanks guys!!

It is a great car, i love it.

I'm gonna try to get a nice photo location near the lake, wash it up again (it got filthy after those pics were taken), and go for some daytime sunny photos, but it may be later in the week. :)

EDIT: damn, i just went to check out the spot to see if i could get my car at a good angle with the scenery, and it would be PERFECT, except for the fact that they're doing utility construction. Maybe i'll just take some pics in my driveway.... the car doesn't seem to be rousing much interest from anyone but the protege owners anyways.

Really good looking car and even though the lighting isn't the best, your paint still looks really good!

BTW, how's the car run?

Most of the time very well. Its not a super fast car (in stock form).... it has 170hp from the factory. But since it is turbo'd, even though it has weak rods, if you do all the supporting mods, and raise boost to 10psi, 220hp is pretty easily attainable. The real shine point of this car though is the handling. Its absolutely remarkable. It can out slalom a 911 turbo. If you wanna know more, do a search for mazdaspeed on sportcompactcarweb.com.... they absolutely rave about it. Its a great, balanced car.

Your Protege looks great JMV. The color is beautiful, can't wait to see your photos in the sun. I bet you really enjoy the car going through the twisty roads. The 170 hp stock is nothing to sneeze at either!

haha, yes twisty roads are a blast. Those photos were taken just before we all went for a quick drive down the twistiest road around!!

well, i STILL don't have good sunny pics (hopefully today), but a guy i know got his dads expensive camera and was doing a night photoshoot, so i headed over there.... one of em shows off the extra color really well actually.

well, the quality didn't turn out quite as well as i would have hoped (i did the get-a-digital-cd-of-your-film-prints thing... ehh). But, i think you get the idea.

BTW, if anyone is curious, that is at Mansfield Dam outside of the cedar park area.

That is the other car I'm looking at getting in a about 4 weeks...just in black. Good god I think it's better than my buddy's RSX Type-S. How much do those run used and what insurance like?

Oh sorry...GREAT DETAIL! I saw that color at a car show and wow did the flake pop. Insane.
