First time using my new rotary

Well, yesterday was my first time using my Bosch rotary. I practiced in a old hood. The paint is single stage, and it was a disaster, paint overspray, coebweb swirls, scratches, oxidation, acid rain, tree sap, bird bombs, etc. So i decided to wetsanding it before polishing.

I doesn't have a compound, the most agressive product that i have is #83 DACP, so I did not be able to remove completely the wetsanding marks.

After seeying this pics, i think that the results are awesome, considering the previous condition and that is the first time using the rotary.

The process:

Sonax Wash x2

Sonüs Clay

Wetsand w/ 1500 grit sandpaper

#83 DACP via rotary w/ LC Yellow Cutting Pad @ 1700 rpm

#80 SG via rotary w/ LC White Polishing Pad @ 1500 rpm

EX-P by hand

Greetings, Lochi

PS: Sorry for my bad english. :nixweiss

Yes, i have some sun shots, and variuos shots of the problems (with macro), but a friend of mine has the memory stick. Tomorrow i will post more pics.

Thanks for your words guys :xyxthumbs

Wow, that was one aggressive process you chose there, but it worked nonetheless. I just don't know if I'd be that brave to do it on a real car though.

Nice results, just remember to take it slow at first and don't be like me and make the same mistake.

I felt overly confident after using the rotary my first few times and then ripped off an antenna:scared Shocked me back to reality.....baby steps:D

Jimmy: this was my first time wetsanding too  ;)

JDookie: I know, probably i'll never be this agressive on a real car.

Anthony: Thanks for the advise :xyxthumbs

Thanks for your compliments guys :wavey

Lochi - It looks great! Old red single stage paint is the messiest! A 70s Land Cruiser, right?

On the other side, try being even more aggressive with both wetsanding and buffing - to the point where you begin to do some damage. Discover what it takes to burn an edge!

Will you be able to locate a compound?

Have Fun!

Jim

Inspiring! Makes me want to get out my new Makita and practice on my 1978 Kubota tractor on my days off this week. I already finished the John Deere mower and that green looks awesome.

Don't wory about your English, your work on that beater hood says everything that needs to be said.

Excellent work!

Jimmy: As I live in Chile, i've to order all my supplies from USA, but i'll try to get a 3M compound locally. It's a 82 Land Cruiser that we are transforming in to a buggie (Look down for a pic, is in the back). When I was buffing, i was trying to find the point when you burn the paint, here's a pic. ;)

Carl: Go out there and try your Makita. The only way to learn is practice all day, every day. Good Luck! :xyxthumbs

Thanks all for your compliments :xyxthumbs :wavey
