First time using 1Z Ultra and polish

1Z PP will leave a great finish, as long as you work it well. No need for another step before wax, BUT, if you want one use Metallic Polish.



It's not like you're using an oily glaze or something, PP is a fine product with diminishing abrasives and some protection. Just use it and admire the results....



BTW, about that so called Ultra, can you identify it here?: (you know, different names, I wanna be sure we're talking about the same product....

I love the 1Z polishes, they are great. I agree you can from the PP right to your wax if you want. I did that one month and it looked great. The next time i polished i decided to follow the PP with FP and the paint looked better then ever before. So if you want that extra pop in think you should definatly follow PP with FP. Also if you guys are using a sealant i would definatly use the FP to remove the oils left behind by the 1Z products.
 
I now have my hands on the following:



Paint Polish (PP)

Metallic Polish/Wax (MP/W)

Glanz Wax (GW)



Am I correct that both PP and MP/W would be considered very light polishes or glazes? What other products work well with 1Z products? Is Glanz Wax supposed to be so watery? Any particular order I should use them in? I am guessing that since MP/W contains wax, it should be used in between the other two, right? Or can you use either PP or MP/W?
 
Hmmm I woudn't consider PP to be a "very light" polish. It's not harsh by any means but definatly not a glaze. I think the MP may be more along the lines of SEC. Yes the glanz wax is watery, make sure you shake the bottle well before using. It seems to have a high solvent content and the wax just seperates out. I would use PP, MP, GW.

I placed my order yesterday - 3 cans Ultra and 3 cans Paint Polish. I haven't used the metallic yet, I saving that for the wife's metallic green Buick.



Get you a big bottle of Menzerna FP if you want to be sure there are no residues from the 1Z line. FP is a great BURNISHER to help maximize the shine of your paint.

The Glanz really is supposed to be so watery; be sure to apply it AS THIN AS POSSIBLE. Also, I've found that if you don't buff it off ASAP, it becomes more difficult to remove. There is 0 waiting time for it to "haze".

I was going to apply it using Bill North's SG method.

If by Bill North Method you mean apply to one panel at a time and wipe then, yes, you can do it this way. I've had good results by applying a thin layer to the whole car (VW Passat) and then immediately going back to where I started applying and buffing off. I think it works well either way, the GW hazes to white after 30 seconds. I just find it's easier for me to apply to entire car first then go back and buff. Good luck with the new products, I hope you find them as easy to use as I did. Be warned though, 1Z is addictive!
 
I went ahead and ordered the 1Z Metallic Polish/Wax. I figure I might as well do the entire 1Z polish system.

Macgirl-applying and immediately removing means only one trip around the car though. ;)



I used MP and GW on a tan Volvo today and both products were very easy to use and the shine was like UPP on steriods! Not quite as slick though but the paint had a very silky feel to it. I took pics, but this current roll has about 15 shots left, so I should have the pics up by the middle of next week or so.
 
I'm not sure what bill north's method is but what I do is pour glanz into a small spray bottle after shaking the can well. Then I spray it onto an applicator and wipe on and wipe off as soon as it hazes. My two cents.
