I'm getting ready to use Souveran on my Black Porsche this weekend. Can anyone offer any last minute tips for this product?

I'll be putting Meguiar's Gold Class underneath.

One concern I have is streaking, is this common with this product?

If I happen to get some Souveran or Meguiars on trim, can you remove it easily?

Thanks for any help.

Souveran is REALLY easy. More risk of gold class streaking than souveran, but only if you don't let it cure. Try to get it on even and smooth (I use the orbital and a buffing pad - works great) - then let it sit for an hour before buffing out. It will look awesome right then - but the souveran will look even better. Just wipe it on with a foam pad, and buff off immediately with a microfiber wipe. (I do a panel or two at a time, then buff out. It goes REALLY fast. I can do the whole car in under 15 minutes.) If you have trouble buffing it off, you might have put it on too thick. A little detail spray will take care of it.

best thing to do on the trim is detail it first - as long as there are fresh oils on there (I'm using Meguiar's #40 vinyl/rubber stuff) no wax will stick.

I'm with carguy on that. Nothing is eaiser to apply than Souveran. Imagine rubbing a pat of butter on your car. That is how smooth it goes on. It buffs off with zero dust and zero smears. I think it is a perfect product. It does everything I would want a carnuba to do. First rate stuff. :up I can't say enough good about it.

Thanks for the help guys. Carguy, I'm going to follow your earlier tips from the email you sent and apply the GC with my new Porter Cable. This will be done after I use Meguiar's #9 2.0.

Thanks again to both of you for the help.

More like a pat of warm butter.

On the high end cars I am using Souveran on, I have been polishing them with either Meguiars Hand Polish (if the paint is near perfect) or Meguiars Swirl Free Polish (if there are slight blemishes or scratches) and the shine is absolutely eye-popping!

Honestly, I would just use either Swirl Remover 2.0 or Swirl Free and skip the GC. Souveran lasts longer than CG anyway. In fact, just put on 2 coats of Souveran.

Scottwax - do you really think souveran lasts longer than GC? I've never done any tests - I've just assumed that since GC is blended with polymers and other high-falutin' high-tech modern chemistry it would last longer.

My car beads about 3-4 weeks with Gold Class and about 8-9 with #26. I used Pinnacle Paste Glaz on two Lexus LS400s and a Ford Excursion about 10 weeks ago now, and all three are beading and feel slick after washing.

Granted, Texas weather and lack of heavy industry and acid rain makes wax tend to last longer here, but GC just does't last as long as #26 or Pinnacle in my experience.

A lot of waxes contain polymers. Blitz, Paste Glaze, Souveran, 3M Show Car, medallion, ...the list goes on. Polymers have very little to do with wax durability if they aren't crosslinking. Polymers suspended in the oily medium of waxes do not crosslink together.

Good to know - though something tells me Paste Glaz will last longer than Souveran. I don't why - maybe I just need to know there is at least SOME drawback to Souveran, which makes me more of a wacko for loving it so much.... ;)

Regardless of whether Souveran or Paste Glaz last the longest, they seem reasonably durable for carnuba waxes, and even after several washes, the paint still feels slick.
