First Time Mobile detail help/advice

ShineTech Auto Detail
I've been doing some detailing on the side for friends & family. Little by little I'm starting to get outside clients. So far they have all brought their cars to my home which I love because I have a canopy attached to the house which keeps me & the car out of the sun while detailing. I now have a potential client that lives about 1 hour away from me & he wants me to go to him. I want to make this as convinient for the client as possible since he has a collection of cars that I might be able to detail in the future. I've never detailed anyones car outside my place so I'm a little nervous about this new experience not knowing what to expect. I will need to make sure I have access to a water line & electrical outlet. I'll be detailing a lifted Ford Excursion so you can already see the fun in that.

I'd like know if any of you have ideas as to how I should approach this, what should I expect or what questions I should ask the client before going out there. Not sure if I'm asking the right questions here but your help & advice is greatly appreciated.

:thanks

If you don't have access to a mobile unit I would ask if he minds if you use his water and electric outlets. Let him know that you will subtract whatever amount from the final bill to cover the water and power that you will be using. I've done this in the past and have never gotten any bad responce from the customer. I would offer to take off 5 to 10 dollars or throw in a free engine detail.

Blue hit it on the nose. Don't go spending money on things, if you are only gonna use them for one client. work your way around it. You may have to buy a long hose and extension cord though.

Thats how I do mobile. I pack up all my stuff, plus plenty of hoses and extension cords. I have never had trouble with using someones water. If water isnt available then you will want to get QEW or optimum no rinse wash and shine. YOu can transport water in a large cooler (one with a water spout). I do this from time to time and its very handy.

I will need to get some no rinse wash and shine & try the cooler thing. I didn't think of that, thanks (How about one of those sprays you need to pump to compress air?) Other than that I have everything else. The client said he has no problem with me using his elect. outlet & water line. He said he even has soft water which I don't think I'll need since I'll be clay barring & polishing the truck. Oh, he did say his excursion is black (Yikes).

When you guys detail has it ever been under the sun rather than a shaded area? I guess this is the part that really makes me nervous.

See if he has anyshade areas you can move the truck. The black will really attract the heat. Or buy a cheap canopy. That's my next purchase.

I'll have to ask him about the shade. Canopy will be on my list to buy as well. This excursion has a 10" lift. So as you can see I'll have lots of fun. He did say he had an ez up so I will have to take him up on it. (I guess his truck will fit under it, hmmm ???)
