First Time Detailing With a PC

NYV6Coupe

Livin' the good life
Just got through with my first detailing attempt with a PC. I'm really satisfied with the results but it's threatening rain so I've got zero sunshine to work with.

I used NXT shampoo
CM claybar
NXT shampoo again
SSR2.5 on LC 6" cupped yellow pad and PC at 4
FPII on a LC 7.5" advanced orange pad and PC at 4
VM on a LC 6" white pad on half, other half with terry applicator
EX-P 2 layers - 1st with an LC 6" grey pad and 2nd by-hand with a with foam applicator

The VM & EX-P go on so easy I thought I'd try both ways & found no real difference.

The pics don't really do it justice 'cause it's so cloudy but the surface is slick, the gloss is excellent and, considering it's silver metallic, the depth in pretty decent.

Comments & suggestions are appreciated

would've been better if I had some sun but it's OK. You can see a bit of the trees in the rear view mirror's reflection .... cool

Yeah yeah yeah, I hear 'ya. Believe me I was careful. It was too tempting to pass up & I wanted to see if I could see the second hand and you can almost read the day & date.

Sure looks good from here! Nice work! :bigups

Honda silver paint is hard to give some "POP"................ you did a nice job of doing that!

OK, now I have one suggestion................... DON'T PUT A WATCH ON THE PAINT! :D

Hey trk128, thanks

The rims are Acura TSX, same offset as 7th gen. I preferred 'em to Honda's because the 7 open spaces don't have the beveled edge between the spokes, leaving the space more open.

Hi Boss,

I was very careful & I chose the roof over the hood because I knew it would never stay on the hood. Same goes for the PB products, cleaned with a MF towel first & placed gently where they would not move.

Hi Hawaiianelement & thanks. I couldn't go wrong doing my homework at DC.

I'll enjoy "sitting back" for a while ......... until I do my girlfriend's '02 Accord sedan, my Dad's Mercury battlewagon, my sister's Cutlass & I'm sure there'll be more so yes, tonight, I'm sitting back.

Looks good NYV6 .....you have to expect some finger shaking from this group on the watch thing (Boss beat me to it):lmfao

aw right, aw right, aw right, aw right .........

I must not put metal things on my paint.

Now can I go out & play???

When you're silver metallic, you've got to go with great reflections where you can find them.

Thanks ranger

Great job! It looks very nice. I understand how you feel about the silver...you work and work and it never looks quite like you think it could even though it is great. The prep work you did really paid off.

I really liked the EX-P too although I have it topping AIO.

thanks mtodde, it's the blessing/curse of light color metallics.

They don't reveal flaws like black, red, dark blues & greens but they still require proper prep for best results. The SSR2.5 worked great and cleaned up the surface so well I probably could have skipped the FPII but I set down my plan and was determined not to take short cuts.

"Does it really look good enough to go directly to VM or am I just getting tired?"

I've got significant orange peal on most surfaces as does my girlfriend's '02 Accord so I'll settle for gloss and reflectivity while accepting the shortcomings of Honda paint.

If I had better sun conditions I'm sure it'd look better/different but I'm still pleased with the results.
