First time claying in the morning

Got BASS...Will travel!!!
Well all you convinced me I need to clay my truck. SO I went to and bought a clay bar today. I am probably gonna use PoorBoys Spray and Wipe as my lubricant. Now for my question. When I am claying do I need to go back where I already clayed and wipe the stuff off before it dries? after it dries? or does it not leave anything you have to wipe off?
 
Everytime Ive clayed,I always followed up with some sort of paint cleaner like Pinnacle or P21S. This cleans any left overs from claying. Then again, I may be adding a step thats not needed.
 
I only clay when its time for a full detail, so the car is getting the whole nine yards anyway. I buff the clay lube off as I go, but I always follow the clay job up with a cleaner and a polish anyway. So I guess I do both...
 
I think you mean - "Do I wipe the lubricant off after I clay the area?". The answer is yes. Wipe as you go before the lubricant dries and the surface should be perfect. Just FYI - Poorboy himself clays after he polishes. The polish will remove most of the contamination, leaving much less for the clay to do. I will tell you, though - i've never heard of anyone doing it that way except him.
Er, you know you have to wash the car first, right? Some wash after claying too, just to get off any theoretical residues.
 
I wash the truck and if I'm going to do a full wash/wax etc then I use Dawn soap. I then clay using S&W as the lub, wiping it off as I go. After claying I proceed applying EX. I avoid any extra steps when working on a full sized extended cab truck with a tonneau. I'm Old and all that surface to work wears me out. Of course I use a mf to wipe up the S&W.
 
I mostly use very soapy water to clay with. Seems to do ok for me. Once I finish claying, I make up a regular bucket of soap and just wash the vehicle down. If you use plenty of lube (whatever kind) you should not have much, if any, clay residue to remove.
