First time claying and Using PC

I broke out the Clay bar and the PC today for the first time.

I washed the car...then went ahead and started claying.

I used Meguiars QD as lube and went at it...My car has 2 years and a half of built up crap on it. Claying was taking forever! So I clayed, and left some stuff on it, but removed the bulk. I pulled out the PC and went to polishing. Apparently I had many dings and scratches on my hood that before were blending in with the deposits embedded in my paint. They are stapler sized and the DACP doesn't seem to be touching them. Here are some pics...please help me out.

I plan on doing some extensive claying tomorrow to get rid of what I gave up on today.

Hmm, those links don't seem to work either. I get a "page not available" message.

Sometimes a scratch is so bad that you're best just trying to round it off and leave it be. You could increase the aggressiveness of your pad and/or product though. What pad did you use this time?

Yahoo doesnt like direct linking, or clicking a link.

Copy/Paste URL into a new window...

-or-

Upload the pics into your personal gallery here and link to them!

Ok one more try...

Note: The paint is clean in those pictures.

I used a yellow foam CMA pad, and DACP. I worked it in well all over. I also applied Meguiars ScratchX with the Yellow pad. These did reduce but not remove what I believe are rock chips, but at the same time did not remove a lot of the smaller marring.

This clear coat has taken a beating though for 2 years now so I can understand why its taking me forever to get all this junk off.

Any suggestions? THanks for being patient through my incompetence with the posting of the pics...

If you have a lot of rock chips I would bet those short marks in the first pic are really deep scratches caused by flying rocks. Are all those white specks in the pics dust, or lots of pitting? I don't know how deep they are but if they seem really deep you might want to just leave them rather than trying to level off all the paint around them. Of course with all that pitting you might want to try cutting all that down. You'll probably need something stronger than DACP for that - maybe something medium/heavy cut even, but I'm not sure. Someone else help here plz? :p

Pitting? Not sure what that is...but it's definitely not dust.

I removed most of that dust looking stuff with the clay bar though. Spent a great part of 2 hours on it...at least.

I'm going to look into getting something more abrasive. It really seems to be my best bet.

If anyone else seems to have suggestions though...here are some better pics.

This will get the picture to show up right in the message! :up :D
