First Reflection Pic

I thought I'd throw up my first attempt at capturing a cool reflection here. I probably should have QD'd the car first, but what the heck...

Thoughts?

how can u see the orange peel.........just curious??

My guess is that du3ce probably has a very well trained eye, a nice computer monitor. It is a good observation though as that "orange peel" texture is consistent throughout the entire paint job. I've read on this forum that this is fairly common for a lot of cars, especially bmws. If I took a reflection picture from any of my windows and put it beside this pic, you'd definitely see the difference. The orange peel causes the images in the reflection to look a bit dull at the edges, whereas a glass reflection looks ultra-sharp.

After reading through many posts here about orange peel, I'm not even going to attempt to fix it. Being very new to detailing, I think I would do more harm than good with an abrasive polish and a 7424 (which I plan on purchasing shortly.)

I have a BMW and It doesnt have any orange peel from the door handle body line and up. below that it still has orange peel. I think its called the "high gloss shadowline" option.

Is that usually seen with new cars.....aside from cars that have been repainted because my dad has a new trailblazer, which I detailed and noticed that on the doors, the reflection looks some distorted......its clean and polished, but isn't like really clear. I'm not sure how you can tell. If I run my hand over the car, it feels smooth. Just wondering from some of the pros.

Thanks,

Nick

orange peel is noticed when u look down the side of the car. not so much straight on. It looks like the skin of an orange(hence the name) because of all the little tiny ups and downs. like divets.

heres a good example.

this is my car and it has been wet sanded to ellimanite almost all the orange peel from the body line and up. below that it still has orange peel. you should be able to see a noticeable difference in the reflection.

I cant attach the pic for some reason.
